     Jun 25 1970 - Carla Jo Evans & Stephen Gibb are wed at Cottonwood Falls & Sheila Phipps & Craig Allen Cooper are united in marriage.


     Jul 2 - Historic Strong City Hotel is ripped by Tuesday morning fire.


     Joyce Jackson & Dale McCabe nuptials are read in the Strong City Methodist Church.


     Jul 9 - Nevitt’s Welding Shop in Cottonwood Falls has been purchased by Richard “Dick” McLinden.


     Elmdale rancher Harold L. Miller, 67, a resident his whole life in Chase County dies suddenly of an apparent heart attack.


     Mr. & Mrs John Wells of Cottonwood Falls will hail their golden anniversary.


     Jul 16 - Mr. & Mrs Gary Peterson of Matfield Green are the parents of a daughter, Kelly Marie. She has a sister Connie 6 years old and a brother, Randy 4 years old.


     Mr. & Mrs Paul Stubenhofer observed their 50th wedding anniversary as do the Karl Stubenhofer’s.


     Jul 23 - Ranch manager Fred H. Howard is taken in death.


     Jul 30 - Miss Ruth Holmes dies in the Chase Co. Nursing Home. Miss Holmes was a native and lived here 72 years in Chase County.


     Aug 6 - The Flint Hills Arts & Crafts fair at Elmdale was a fine success.


     Chester H. Jackson a lifelong resident of Matfield Green passes suddenly.


     Mr. & Mrs Bruce Swift of Strong City hail their golden wedding anniversary.


     Aug 13 - Former publisher of the Chase County Leader, Wm. P. Austin passes suddenly.


     Also Hillman Amerine of Strong City passes away.


     Aug 20 - Robert E. Judd has been named associated editor of the Drovers Journal.


     The Glen Burton’s hail their golden wedding anniversary.


     Aug 27 - Deaths: Glenn Bullock & Mrs Joe Edwards both of Strong City and Marvin Wambsganss Jr. 22 years of age.


     Sep 3 - USD-284 enrollment shows a stable trend.


     Mrs Effie Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls celebrated her 94th birthday.


     The passing of an era noted in closing of the Elmdale Grade School.


     Sep 10 - Revered music teacher, Mrs Nellie McMorris of Strong City dies at the age of 90.


     Kay Ellen Laughridge & Robert Douglas Olson were united in marriage.


     Sep 17 - W. R. (Pat) Mushrush observed his 50th anniversary with the Exchange National Bank in Cottonwood Falls. He now serves as chairman of the board.


     Sep 24 - Deaths: Garrett Cross, Loren E. Smith and Elmer Henderson.


     Oct 1 - Strong City is 1-1 on the new football season.


     Mr. & Mrs Charles Caress have been married for 65 years. They are residents of the Chase County Nursing Home.


     Oct 15 - Billy Joe Wilson, 11 year old son of Mr. & Mrs J. R. Wilson suffers second and third degree burns over 40 percent of his body.


     Oct 22 - Deaths; Gilbert (Gibb) Pinkston well known rancher of the Bazaar vicinity, Howard Parks of Cottonwood Falls and Wilbur Flowers.
