     Oct 29 1970 - Chase County High Bulldogs topples the Council Grove Braves from their unbeaten ranks.


     The Buck Creek Gun Club has purchased and moved a clubhouse onto the grounds three miles south of Cottonwood Falls.


     Nov 5 - Announced plans for closing of Crofoot Feedlots in Chase County.


     Harvey Nelson & William E. Brown have passed away.


     Nov 12 - Retired rancher Rodney McCallum is taken in death also Jesse Snedegar, of Matfield Green.


     The Christmas Fair is set for Nov 18th to be held in the Cottonwood Falls Masonic Temple.


     Nov 19 - Justifiable homicide was the ruling of a coroners jury in the death of Jerry J. Blankenship, Sr.


     Dec 3 - Death of Mrs Roy Bastin of Matfield Green.


     Dec 10 - Mr. & Mrs Gene Cox are the new owners of the Longhorn Family Center in Cottonwood Falls.


     Fred H. Howard II is the choice for K.B.T. Director.


     Dec 17 - Surprise snow of four inches falls in the county.


     William Laughridge observes his 90th birthday.


     Jerry D Keller is a new teacher in USD-284 at the Chase County High School.


     Dec 24 - A reduction in valuation for some Chase County pastureland.


     Dec 31 - Mr. & Mrs Tom Bell of Cottonwood Falls are the parents of a daughter, Tamara Michelle.


     Jan 7 1971 - John Crofoot is named for State Senator vacancy.


     A new Strong City restaurant the Wagonwheel Cafe opens. The owners are Mr. & Mrs Harold Dean Miller.


     Mr & Mrs Raymond Meyers purchase the Sampson Grocery Store in Strong City.


     Jan 14 - Retired nurse and longtime resident Miss Frances Stubenhofer, 79, of Strong City passes away.


     George T. Dawson retires after forty years as banker in the Elmdale Bank.


     Jan 21 - Deaths: Mrs Dale Trayer, Arthur R. Denny, Steve Brooks and John Rabuse.


     Feb 4 - The Chase County Soil Conservation award goes to Titus & Stout.


     Mr. & Mrs Norman Wilson, Strong City, are the parents of a son, L. D.


     Feb 11 - Mrs Lucille Pinkston was appointed as the postmaster of Cedar Point.


     Robert L. Keener of Cottonwood Falls has died. He had served as caretaker of the Prairie Grove cemetery for many years before his retirement.


     Feb 18 - Mr. & Mrs Lee Byram of Cedar Point will observe their 60th wedding anniversary and Mr. & Mrs E. L. Danford their 50th.


     Feb 25 - Chase County area is lashed by high winds, snow, in late winter storm.


     Harold E. Gibb is appointed as postmaster at Elmdale.


     Mar 11 - A chapter of the Kansas Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and singers is being formed at Cottonwood Falls.
