     Feb 24 1972 - Mrs Levi (Emma) Jones just turned 105 years old and still enjoys hand sewing lap robes and quilts.


     Luther C Sayre of Cottonwood Falls has died; he was a retired farmer from the Wonsevu area.


     Harold Ensley will be the featured speaker at the Chase County Soil Conservation District meeting.


     Mar 2 - A new laundramat is going up south of the railroad tracks in Strong City.


     Retired Homestead farmer Henry E. Stahl has died.


     The Chase County Board of Commissioners took action to insure that the bridge over the Cottonwood River at the north edge of Cottonwood Falls would remain.


     Mar 16 - Deaths: Mrs Henry Rogler, Ralph Bielman.


     Mar 30 - Chester K. Rice of the Toledo community dies unexpectedly.


     Restoration of the Lower Fox Creek school is being completed.


     The Jaycees will sponsor the beard contest as part of the courhouse centennial.


     A car-train crash fatal to five area young persons at the crossing in Strong City.


     Apr 13 - Longtime resident Floyd Gardner of Cottonwood Falls is taken in death.


     The average Chase County family income is $6,157.


     All are urged to take advantage of oral polio vaccine day.


     Apr 20 - The new bridge across the Cottonwood River just east of Elmdale is showing definite progress as the landscape scene has taken a marked change.


     Apr 27 - Retired Santa Fe employee John W. Sidler passes away.


     May 11 - Vic Winter is hired as the new Cottonwood Falls City Marshal.


     May 25 - The replica of the Chase County courthouse in Cottonwood Falls was made by Gilbert Haug and Jerry Keller for the Centennial celebration.


     Carol Jean Ringler and Ted Stewart Passmore are wed.


     Jun 1 - Terri Jo Cahoone and Susan Masoner are entered in the Miss Rodeo Kansas Queen contest.


     A native pioneer, Henry Rogler, 95, of Matfield Green a prominent Chase Co. rancher has been taken in death.


     Mr. & Mrs James Way will observe their 50th wedding anniversary. Remodeling and renovation is completed at the Strong City Legion Hall.


     Jun 8 - Terri Jo Cahoone was chosen as “Miss Congeniality" and received a trophy.


     Deaths: Alfred E. Linsea, Mrs Harry Heter and Velma McCandless.


     Deaths: Carl 0. Dawson, Mrs Roy Park and Drew Drummond.


     Jun 29 - Gibb’s Quick-Check has changed ownership, Mr. & Mrs George Harder are the new owners.


     Mrs Winfred Britain of Matfield Green has died and also Mrs Harvey Counsellor of Cottonwood Falls.


     Carol Louis White and Alan Dean Giger are wed.
