     Jul 6 1972 - A heavy infestion of green bugs in Chase County.


     Jul 13 - The Pride Program is under way as new sidewalks are being built on Broadway in Cottonwood Falls.


     Jul 27 - Mrs Howard (Helen) Chapman will retire from teaching after a late start with 23 years of teaching.


     Aug 3 - The Buck Creek Gun Club has a new sign.


     Longtime area resident Mrs Harris Stewart of Saffordville passes away.


     Aug 17 - County Pioneer, Mrs Harvey Osborn, 81, of Cottonwood Falls has passed away. She was a lifetime resident of Chase County. For more than 50 years, Mrs Osborn has been employed in the Cottonwood Falls store that is now Kieferle-Busselle Dry Goods & Ready-to-wear.


     Mrs May Campbell was honored by family and friends for her 90th birthday.


     Mr and Mrs Johnny T Fly, Cottonwood Falls, have a new daughter, Michele Alanna.


     Mr. & Mrs Tom Jones, Cottonwood Falls, have a new son, Mark Thomas and Mr. & Mrs David Rettiger, a son, Charles Joseph.


     Aug 31 - James Zickefoose will teach in Australia. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Edgar Zickefoose of Elmdale.


     All business people in the county are asked to dress in Centennial costume on each Monday & Friday of the week.


     Lea Anne Trussell & Wade Coester are wed.


     Sep 7 - Clifford Keener has been hired as street superintendent by the City of Cottonwood Falls Council.


     Football fans at Chase County High School will see a new press box this season.


     Debra Potter and Ace Schroer are wed in the Grace Luthern Church at Strong City.


     Sep 14 - Ground-breaking ceremony for the Strong City 20-unit housing project.


     Bob’s Store, Western Auto— affiliate business in Cottonwood Falls has been sold to the Warren Cahoone’s.


     Sep 21 - Lifetime Strong citian, Earl R. Shumaker, 69, who was a retired Santa Fe Railroad Co. employee has passed away. Also, Ephraim Pinkston, who was 102 years old.


     Harder’s Super Saver Ad — Cherry Pie Filling - 21 oz. size 39 cents.


     Sep 28 - Three baby calves were born to a holstein dairy cow in the herd of C. K. Jones of rural Cottonwood Falls.


     Winfred A. Britian, 69, passes away.


     Courthouse Centennial office is opened in downtown Cottonwood Falls.


     Oct 5 - John J. Wells, of Cottonwood Falls, a native of Elmdale passes away.


     Mrs Roland Turner a 37 year old Mother of three teenage children passes away.


     Oct 19 - Herd of 29 cows stolen from Flint Hills pasture near Cassoday.


     The restoration at the Lower Fox Creek school is nearing completion.
