Mar 1 1973 - The H. L. Dahlberg’s whose new colonial type home on Spring Street has been completed.
Mar 8 - Cedar Point girls win tournament complete year of undefeated play.
Mar 15 - More rain again sends river and streams out of their banks.
Pastures are renting at $9.00 per acre.
Mar 22 - Wm. (Bill) Swift, a retired farmer and lifetime resident of the Matfield Green vicinity died at his home.
18 - year-olds still required to register with Selective Service.
Apr 5 - Had Whitney, of Elmdale and a lifetime resident of the Hymer vicinity dies unexpectedly and Mrs Willis (Julia) Thompson of Cottonwood Falls.
Mrs Frank (Virginia) Gaddie has retired from the Exchange National Bank after 16 years of employment.
Apr 19 - Bluestem pasture prices notably higher this spring.
Apr 26 - Chase County Extension Director-Agent Michael S. Holder will start work on May 1st.
Chase County High track team wins Hamilton meet, for the first time since 1965.
May 3 - Deaths: Alfred Schroer of Strong City and Earl H. (Cappy) Grokett Cottonwood Falls and Mrs Arch Garrison also of Cottonwood Falls.
May 10 - The tiny Bazaar post office observes National postal week with open house.
Chase County High School art program initiated two years ago is a popular one.
Jim Bell, Jr. is the Gazette’s selection for Man of the week.
May 17 - Proposed addition to Strong City Grade school by bond issue.
Three to hail golden wedding anniversary’s, Mr. & Mrs Lee Graham, Mr. & Mrs Kipling M. Wells & Mr. & Mrs George Hanson.
Mrs Gertrude Archer longtime area resident passes away.
"Bambi" miracle baby deer is adopted by Sheriff Francis Towle, Mrs Towle and daughters.
May 24 - Girdner Crofoot returns from extended trip to Europe & Africa.
May 31 - Ten are entered in the Miss Rodeo Queen Contest: three are Chase Countains, Roberta Morgan, Leigh Ann Blankenship & Susan Masoner.
Census figures show Chase County population up some, 3,591 in 1972 and 3,617 in 1973.
The old Santa Fe Depot at Cottonwood Falls is razed. It was built in 1907.
Jun 7 - Roberta Morgan was chosen as Miss Congeniality at the rodeo on Sunday. She is a sophomore at the Colby Community College.
Native of Bazaar Emma Eckhardt is taken in death.
The rodeo parade was an hour long spectacular.
Jun 14 - Mr. & Mrs Douglas Olson, Clements, are the parents of a son, Jason Derrick.
Jun 21 - Gasoline shortage starting to be felt in this area.
Jul 5 - Charles Davis III to Kansas Power & Light job here.
W. E. (Barlow) Mercer, 79, of Cottonwood Falls has passed away and Mrs Fred Smethers of Elmdale.
