     Jul 12 1973 - New Highway patrolman, John Conklin for Chase County.


     Roberta Sue Hansen and Victor Ray Winter are wed.


     Jul 26 - Installation of a night despository at the Exchange National Bank has been completed.


     Local navyman Marvin Adcock gets break in recording field in Calif.


     Aug 2 - Well known area resident, John E. Burton, has passed away.


     The Cottonwood Falls City Council moves to hike water rates.


     Aug 9 - Home ceremony unites young couple, Linda Louise Swift and Larry Gene Meyers.


     Mr. & Mrs Irving Myers and Mr. & Mrs H. D. “Quess” McKittrick will hail their golden anniversarys.


     Aug 23 - Deaths: Mrs J. J. Wells, 76, of Cottonwood Falls, J. W. (Bill) Hamm & Mrs Sam Ludwig.


     Aug 30 - Cliff Roberts, 48, dies in an airplane crash at the Emporia Municipal Airport.


     Picnic honors 25th wedding anniversary of Stanley & Mildred North of Safforciville.


     The Matile boys, Gene & Joe, win a first at National High School rodeo championship finals in Utah.


     Sep 6 - Controversy over proposed prairie park had airing before a special committee.


     Sep 13 - Gene Lind, 49, a farmer & stockman of Saffordville died at his home. Dean Jones of Cottonwood Falls has also passed away.


     Gayle Frances Davis and Gerald Lee Ingalls are united in marriage.


     Sep 20 - Mr. & Mrs J. Park Mauderly have bought the George Gammell place on Buck Creek. It consist of 320 acres.


     Sep 27 - Paul D. Ayers, of Cedar Point dies suddenly at his home.


     Oct 11- Mr. & Mrs Albert Odle will observe their golden wedding anniversary.


     Oct 18 - Flooding results from downpours that send the river and creeks on a rampage.


     Nov 8 - A. E. Titus, MD legendary Chase County figure, dies at 88, at his home.


     Nov 22 - Deaths: Mrs Henry Brecht, George H. Miser, and Howard F. Brammell.


     Dec 6 - The Strong City depot is dualized by Santa Fe.


     Winter’s wrath touches area with a heavy snow.


     Dec 13 - Prominent rancher, Willard V. Harshman of the Clements vicinity passes away.


     Mrs Curtis (Esther) Snedegar of Cottonwood Falls was found dead at her home.


     No-fault insurance will be required before issuance of 1974 tags.


     Dec 20 - Hike of stamps coming early in January, from 8 cents to 10 cents.


     Alan Giger returns from Germany and receives his discharge from the Army at Fort Dix, N. J.


     Jeanne Schwilling and Frank W. Harshman are wed.
