     May 15 - Renovation of courthouse square to start this year.


     Jun 5 - The Cottonwood Falls city dump is open two days, all Saturday and in the afternoon on Sunday.


     Jun 12 - Well known area resident Fred L. Hinkle passes away.


     Jun 19 - The deluge of rain causes flooding on the Cottonwood River.


     Mr. & Mrs Ace Schroer of Strong City have a new son, Mitchell Ace.


     Two new regular size tennis courts are under construction in the northwest campus area at Chase County High School in Cottonwood Falls.


     Jun 19 - Dr. Leo F. McKee was featured in the community spotlight in a recent issue of Emporia Gazette.


     Jun 26 - Keith Zimmerman has resigned his post as Cottonwood City Marshal.


     June Campbell and Joseph Bell were wed in an outdoor setting at the Bell pond.


     Nancy Ann Gibb & Michael Donald Horst are wed.


     Jul 10 - Repairs for the historic courthouse is being done which includes repairing the soffit, rafters, molding and cornices, and painting of woodwork all around the court house.


     Jul 17 - County loses one of its oldest citizens, Benton S. Thompson.


     Jul 24 - Cost estimates on replacing of courthouse wall, the commission see no way of fitting the well’s cost into the county budget.


     Aug 7 - Large group in impromptu meeting with commissions to block tree removal from the courthouse lawn.


     Willard Park lifetime Chase countain has passed away.


     Rainfall in Chase County during July was zero.


     Melinda Potter & James Barrett are united in marriage.


     Aug 14 - Mrs Rollie Scott retires from Social Rehabilitation Services after 27 years in social work.


     Aug 21 - James R. Schwilling is selected as outstanding airman.


     Aug 28 - Lifetime resident of Chase County, Mrs Lee (Ruth) Betty has passed away.


     Mr. & Mrs Craig Cooper, have a new daughter, Lisa Ann.


     Sep 4 - Near centennarian Effie Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls is taken in death, and also, Hal Prather of Elmdale.


     Sep 18 - Deaths: Alfred W. Hawkins, John J. Sharp, and local former world champion cowboy, Ken Roberts of Strong City.


     Charles F. Rayl opened his law office in Strong City in June.


     Oct 2 - Robert Campbell has retired from the Navy after 22 years of service.


     Oct 9 - Open house at the new SRS office draws many.


     Longtime county resident of the Saffordville area, Mrs Guy F. (Grace) Crook has passed away.


     Oct 16 - Local retired merchant Henry R. Cahoone and Robert K. Myers passes away.


     A bid of $2,318.64 for waterproofing the stone in the courthouse building was accepted by the Chase County Board of Commissioners.
