     1975 - 1976


     Nov 13 1975 - Lifetime resident Clara Loise (Jonas) Rollins of Cottonwood Falls has died. She was a native of the Sharp’s Creek vicinity and the daughter of Nathan & Clara Brandley Russell.


     The Chase County jail, like many others, does not meet standards and is closed.


     The old picturesque “Cartter Bridge” is being torn down and a new one will replace it.


     Dec 4 - Mrs Earl (Muriel) Evans, of Strong City who has completed 3l - 1/2 years of employment with the Chase County Welfare Dept. has resigned.


     Mr. & Mrs E. C. Oldham will celebrate their 50 years together with an open house.


     Dec 11 - A new rest room will be installed in the stone building at Swope Park.


     Mrs Sidney T. (Ena) Symes died unexpectedly at her home.


     Dec 18 - USD - 284 is offering Eimdale school buildings for sale.


     Dec 25 - Cable television is coming to the area by early summer.


     Gene Baumgardner is recipient of thirty-year KPL pin.


     George Hanson of the Saffordville vicinity has passed away.


     Jan 8 1976 - Number of farms in U. S. decline.


     Trash service matter in limbo.


     Jan 15 - Two men are charged in the kidnapping of Kim Crofoot.


     Jan 22 - All nine bids on the Elmdale school buildings were rejected.


     Feb 5 - A local young woman has been named Kansas Veterinary Technician of the year. She is Terri Jo Cahoone of Cottonwood Falls.


     Feb 19 - Paul Stubenhofer a lifetime resident of Chase County succumbs.


     The Lee Byrams of Cedar Point will hail their 65th wedding anniversary with an open house.


     Feb 26 - Chase County pioneer Mrs Levi (Emma Jones) 109 years old dies in the hospital.


     Connie Laughridge is crowned Queen of Courts at the Chase County High School football game. Escorting the queen was Tom Grokett.


     Mar 18 - Carl Sidney Palmer, 34, former resident of the Strong City area died at Vesalia, Calif. He was the son of Robert 0. and Mary Whitney Palmer and had served in the Navy Air Force.


     Matfield Green to get a fire truck.


     Mar 25 - The 1882 stone structure which was the home of the Chase County National Bank, has just been purchased by the Chase County Historical Society, Inc. from the family of the late Carl B. Cowley. It is located at the corner of Broadway & Friend Street in Cottonwood Falls.


     Apr 1 - Tragic highway accident claims the life of 21-year old Dudley Doolittle III of Strong City.


     Apr 8 - The new $2 bill soon to circulate.


     Apr 22 - Well known local resident, H. L. Chapman passes away, also Mrs Fred Siler.
