     May 6 1976 - The Chase County Bicentennial plates have been designed by Mrs Ted Scott.


     May 20 - New section of bleachers for the Flint Hills Rodeo.


     Mr. & Mrs Emil Mushrush of Strong City, have a new son, Randall Dean.


     South Fork watershed construction starts.


     Jun 3 - Francis D Towle, currently serving his 18th. year as sheriff of Chase County has announced his candidacy for the position of District Magistrate Judge.


     Trees are planted at the Chase County State Lake.


     Jun 10 - Douglas Peck and Richard McLinden are seeking nominations for sheriff of Chase County. Bill North is seeking the County Attorney position.


     Jun 17 - Mrs E. B. (Cleo) Laughridge of Cedar Point passed away. She was the daughter of Arthur & Margaret Penny Ice.


     The new bridge over the Cottonwood river on K-l77 corridor nears completion.


     Jun 24 - Keith Drummond, a lifetime resident of Elmdale and well know rancher and farmer passes away. Mr. Drummond was not married.


     Carol Ann Fankhauser & Larry Douglas Kohl are married.


     Jul 1 - Old bridge closed when Supervisor Bill Fillmore placed the sign on barrier.


     The Chase County State Lake is stocked with bass.


     Jul 15 - Sibil Hays Pendergraft, 90, of Cottonwood Falls is taken in death.


     Also Charles H. Davis, Jr. of Elmdale, and former local merchant Robert M. Giger of Cottonwood Falls have died.


     Aug 5 - Mr. & Mrs Richard Vandegrift, of Cottonwood Falls, are the parents of a son, Mitchel Wayne.


     Aug 19 - Well known local dentist Dr. Harry M. Wilcox has passed away. Dr. Wilcox was a veteran of WWI. His wife was the former Loretta Matti.


     Sep 2 - Ken’s place is sold to David Bayer, an indoor & outdoor dancing pavillion and stone building, just east of Strong City. The selling price was $9,600 with five bidders on hand.


     Charles D. Rettiger, a lifetime resident of Strong City and Chase County is taken in death. He was the son of David & Rose Harvey Rettiger.


     Sep 9 - The mini-park at the old Cottonwood River bridge is shaping up.


     Sep 16 - Mr. & Mrs Ellsworth Jeffrey of rural route Cottonwood Falls will hail their 50th wedding anniversary.


     Sep 23 - Marcia Sue Busselle and Ted D Ayres are wed.


     Sep 30 - Bicentennial quilt day will be held soon at the high school.


     Oct 14 - Ground breaking for the first detention dam in the Diamond Creek.


     Watershed District was held northeast of Burdick.


     Carole Roberts Carrier & Tim E. Miser are united in marriage.


     10—21 - Cooler here than in Alaska.


     Mr. & Mrs Del Evans of Cottonwood Falls celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.


     Oct 28 - The Chase County High School’s girls volleyball team won the Regional Tournament and will play in the State Tourney at Hesston.
