     Oct 28 1976 - Head lice are reported in Chase Co. schools.


     Nov 4 - Jimmy Carter is elected as the 39th President of the U. S.


     A native of Cedar Point Warren L. Whitcomb passes away.


     Nov 25 - Set Public meeting to discuss county wide ambulance service.


     Dec 2 - Well known local businessman Emery C. Oldham dies.


     Dec 9 - Dentist, Edward H. Siems, Jr. will locate here in Cottonwood Falls and start his practice Feb. 1st.


     Dec 16 - George Yeager is elected to a three year term as Chairman of the ASC.


     Dec 23 - Bazaar resident Paul Palacio who was a retired Santa Fe employee is found dead at his home in Bazaar.


     Dec 30 - The 22 foot Christmas tree located in the gymnasium of the Cottonwood Grade School came from the Verne Fankhouser farm and was cut and brought to the school by Mr. Fankhauser, John Rufener and Arthur Holdeman.


     Jan 6 1977 - E. C. Roberts of Strong City has been selected as “Rodeo Man of the Year” and will be honored at the Denver Livestock Show & Rodeo this month.


     Billing Pharmacy has been sold to John Reed. The drug store has been in continuous operation since 1914 with few owners. It was established by E. D. Replogle.


     Drought conditions in 1976 continue in Dec.


     Faye Hovron & Charles Laughridge are wed.


     Jan 27 - J. Lee Byram, lifetime resident of Cedar Point dies. Also Mrs Halsey Carpenter of Matfield Green.


     Feb 3 - The Chase County Sheriff’s Dept. is fully staffed to start the new year with Sheriff, Richard McLinden, Undersheriff, Buford Pringle and Deputy Dennis Burton.


     Feb 10 - The sheriff’s department moved to the former living quarters at the court house.


     The number of Kansas farms declined again by about 2,000.


     Mar 3 - Longtime area resident Oak Lee, 87, of rural Cottonwood Falls passes away.


     Chase County girls are sub-state champs. Later they took the championship title at Emporia. The first state title in Cottonwood Falls history.


     Chase County High School to present musical “Fiddler on the Roof.”


     Mar 31 - Jim Bell Clothing store observes it’s 50th. anniversary.


     Wanda Cooper graduates as auctioneer.


     Apr 7 - The bicentennial scrapbook compiled by Chase County Senior citizens was presented to the Bicentennial Committee.


     Apr 14 - The Chase County Commissioners accepted the bid of $3,702 for repair & paint on the courthouse roof and gutters with work also to include repair & painting of the chimneys.
