     Sep 6 1979 - Set plans in motion for historic courthouse repairs.


     Mr. & Mrs Harold Kip Wells II, Elmdale have a new son, Bradley Clifford.


     Sep 27 - Stage is set for old timers rodeo.


     Mr. & Mrs Lawrence Osgood will observe their 25th wedding anniversary with an open house at the Homestead Community Church.


     Former longtime resident of Chase County Mrs Ernest (Rosa) Sayre passed away.


     Oct 4 - Cooler front dents unseasonal warmth.


     Ray M. Sherffius, of Cottonwood Falls passes away.


     Mr. & Mrs Jack Glanville, Sr. are honored on their 50th wedding anniversary.


     Oct 11 - Stir on National Prairie Park again.


     20 are enrolled in the new Presbyterian nursery school.


     Twin daughters were born to Mr. & Mrs Howard Blender of the Saffordville vicinity, Callie Jean & Corinne Leigh.


     Oct 18 - Strong citian Ray K. Gordon is taken in death and Harry Lamb of Cottonwood Falls.


     City water rates to be hiked Nov. 1st.


     A daughter, Amanda Jo, was born to Mr. & Mrs James Fink of rural Cottonwood Falls.


     Nov 15 - FHA loan approved for 20 housing units for elderly in Cottonwood Falls.


     Nov 22 - Congressman Bob Whittker announces more Prairie Park opposition.


     Nov 29 - Mr. & Mrs Harvey Dahlberg will observe their 50th wedding anniversary.


     Dec 27 - Mrs Charles H. (Edith) Davis, Sr, 91, of Elmdale passes away.


     Jan 10 1980 - Rosa Rufener to mark 100th birthday.


     Jan 17 - The Matfield Green High School building will be tore down.


     Jan 24 - Mr. & Mrs Gerald Ingalls, Strong City, are the parents of a son, Michael Gregory.


     Jan 31 - Earl “Steve” Evans will retire from being the Strong City rural mail carrier.


     Feb 7 - Deaths: Mrs Clifford (Aileen) Bell, Otto Morris and Mrs Ben (Maude) Valeman.


     Feb 14 - First real winter storm hits area, closing schools and styming traffic.


     Accept hid for courthouse plan and. design for new electric wiring.


     Mar 6 - Exchange National Bank installs computer.


     Mar 20 - Harold H. Talkington will known rancher & lifetime resident of Matfield Green has passed away.


     Funds are raised to purchase the Cottonwood Falls golf course by the club.


     Apr 10 - Volunteers begin work to remove huge log jam at old river bridge.


     Apr 17 - Deaths: Mrs B. B. (Rosa) Rufener, Mrs Harry M. Wilcox, J. W. (Bill) Phillips and Mrs Jess Kirk.
