     Sep 10 1981 - Sally Whitney 1st. grade teacher at the Strong City Grade School has retired.


     Sep 17 - Tonya Oldham & Tim Vtech are wed


     Oct 15 - The Chase County courthouse is featured in newspapers across Kansas.


     Deaths: Margaret Barr, Mary Link, & Mable Dawson.


     Oct 29 - June Morgan is now associate editor of the Chase County Leader.


     Nov 5 - Luco Manufacturing in Strong City is doing well as a new business.


     Nov 12 - Toledo 4-H celebrates 50 years.


     Deaths: Hugh “Cobby” Pinkston, Harriett Shumate & Mrs Walter Granger.


     Nov 19 - Anita Talkington and Ron Cahoone are wed.


     Deaths: Helen Huth and Frank Duehn.


     Dec 3 - Small farms, which fell in numbers year after year during the 1950’s and 1960’s, are bouncing back.


     Dec 10 -Troy Crissup was honored as the leading jockey this past year.


     Deaths: Francis Riggs, Harold B. Messer, and Vernon L. Scott.


     Dec 17 - Mr. & Mrs Ron Scott of Strong City are the parents of a little girl, Kristen Marie. She has an older brother Jeff.


     Dec 24 - Kansas Graphics, Inc., buys the Chase County Leader-News.


     Deaths: Harold “Dutch” Brown and Florence Koger.


     Dec 31 - Touch-tone comes to Cottonwood Falls & Strong City.


     The Senior citizen 20 unit housing is done and has 16 occupied so far.


     Deaths: Cecil Umberger, Estella Potter, Bessie Sampson, Cecil Hepler, Irene Burton, & Charles Gardner.


     Jan 7 1982 - Fiddlers, pickers,singers to have a monthly jam.


     Jan 21 - Betty & H. J. “Junior” Johnson are the Chase County winners of the 1981 Kansas Bankers Association Soil Conservation award.


     Jan 28 - Mr. & Mrs William North of Cottonwood Falls have a new baby girl, Jennifer Ann.


     Feb 4 - Deaths: Freddie Way, Mary Boofing, & Miss Anna Golden.


     Feb 18 - Falls Chapter No. 25, Order of the Eastern Star will celebrate its 100 years.


     Mar 4 - Work to begin on the new County Health Center. Dennis Maddox was the low bidder on the 28 x 70 frame building.


     Deaths: Floyd Potter and Clara Roberts, both of Strong City also Carl O’Daniel.


     Mar 18 - Deaths: Alonzo Carmon Spain and Ray Whitlock.


     Apr 1 - Ethel Leona Blount of Cottonwood Falls has passed away.


     Apr 29 - The five Hainline kids will be showing steers at the Spring Beef Show.


     May 6 - Bonnie & Dennis Orton buy the Meyer Grocery in Strong City.


     May 13 - Leola Evans of Strong City retired after working 26 years with the Federal Land Bank Association at Emporia.
