Jan 20 - Airman Carl Douglas Johnson completed basic military training in the U. S. Air Force at Lackland, A.F.B. Texas.

Mr. & Mrs Philip Blender and Mr. & Mrs Howard Blender won the 1982 Bankers award for their work in Soil Conservation.
Feb 3 - Chase County residents awoke to the worst winter storm of the season, 12 inches of snow.
Francis William ImMasche passed away suddenly. He was a retired Colonel, USAF Reserve.
Feb 17 - The Chase County Middle School Bullpup girls won the Flint Hills League Tournament. The coaches are Carla Havens & Mark Spears.
Feb 24 - John & Terry Landsbury of Strong City have purchased the Wagon Wheel Cafe in Strong City from Bill & Sharon Hobson.
Mr. & Mrs Alan Giger of Elmdale have a new daughter, Kara Kristine.
Fred Kaltenbacher of the Saffordville area has passed away.
Mar 10 - Mr. & Mrs Edgar Zickefoose are to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

McCallum.
The wedding of Betty Ann Burton and G. W. Yeager, took place at the United Methodist church in Cottonwood Falls.
Mr 31 - Mr. & Mrs Ova Hensley of Strong City will hail their 50 years together.

May 12 - The new Southfork bridge is now open to traffic. The old bridge was torn down.
May 26 - Edna Rettiger of Strong City, won the “Lawn of the Season” award in the Rainbow Garden Club sponsored event. Her lawn was chosen over 27 other contestants.
Jun 2 - The Kansas Fish & Game released another otter below the South Fork Bridge in Chase County. 10 will be released in all.
