     Jun 9 1983 - Open house will be held at the Exchange National Bank after extensive remodeling.


     Jun 16 - Marriages of Sandra K. Crichton and Wm. J. Luder and Dorothy Helen Fillingsness and Wm. J. Yeager. Also Roberta Heathman & John Allen.


     Jun 23 - A warm and joyful welcome to Laura Irene Wells, parents H. Kip, Jr. and Sherry Wells of Elmdale.


     Leona & Kipling Wells of Elmdale celebrate their 60 years together.


     Cynthia Lou Schwilling & Ronald E. Kelsheimer are married.


     The Peyton Creek watershed is ready to build.


     Mr. & Mrs Jim Barrett, are proud to announce the birth of their second son, Jerod Alan.


     Jul 7 - Orville “Doc” Parks of Cottonwood Falls passed away. He married Eva Heckendorn in 1930. Two sons survive, Dean & Gary and his wife.


     Also passing away was, Floyd T. Eidman, Keith William (Hoot) Brown, and Wm. Ova Hensley.


     Jul 14 - The 6th annual Cottonwood Falls Days to be held July 16th.


     Jul 21 - Population in Chase County is 3,269 for the 1982 year census.


     Albert Burton retires as the Cottonwood Falls rural mail carrier after 26 years of service.


     Jul 28 - The Chase County Fishing Lake west of Cottonwood Falls will soon be improved.


     Aug 18 - Janice Danford and Keith Glanville are united in marriage


     Sep 8 - August is dry and hot.


     Deaths: Harry F. Bender, M. V. (Bud) Welch, Sr., Gilbert L. Murdock & Mrs Harry Gamer.


     Sep 22 - Another new business has sprang up in Strong City recently. The “Cuttin’ Up Hair Salon” Bev Pinkston & Gayle Ingalls are the operators.


     Clarence McCandless of Cottonwood Falls & Ray Mason Riggs of Strong City have passed away.


     The third annual Cooper Quarter Horse Production Sale will soon be held.


     Sep 29 - A 42 original hand-embroidered block quilt is stitched by seven members of the Bazaar Ladies Aid. Mrs Ted (Louise) Scott drew the scenes for the quilt.


     Oct 6 - Marijuana plants estimated at value of around $40,000 was burned in cultivated field near Cedar Point by the Sheriff.


     Deaths: Robert L. (Bob) Carrier, Lelah Opal Miller, Perry G. Entz, and Eugene Warner Hayden.


     Oct 13 - Carol Jean Rausch and James Douglas Cahoone are wed.


     Oct 20 - The Elmdale Trading Post was opened this month after many weeks of reconstuction by Harold Kip & Barbara Wells and their son, Kip, and his wife, Sherry.


     Nov 3 - Frank Barr placed first in the Saddle Bronc Riding Division at the finals of the Kansas State Rodeo.


     Deaths: Wallace Rollins & Bertha May Evans.


     Nov 10 - Girl Scouts are selling calendars.
