     Mar 5 1988 - James & Joan Donahue buy the historic Clover Cliff Ranch. The ranch includes 3,000 acres.


     Deaths: David H. Ramsey, Sr., Samuel C. Ludwig, and Alfred Woodrow Mercer.


     Mar 10 - Knute Rockne commemorative stamp to be issued in March.


     Mar 24 - Reed Pharmacy of Cottonwood Falls is up for sale.


     Elexia Yoakem & Doug Goff are wed at Emporia.


     Apr 7 - Cedar Point grade school will close this year. The vote was yes - 376, to no - 211.


     Decision to soon be made on the fate of the courthouse cedar trees.


     Apr 14 - Ireland football track field lights approved by the board.


     Apr 21 - City of Cottonwood Falls issued burning permit at dump.


     Births: Mr. & Mrs Doug Cahoone, a son, Wesley Douglas; and Mrs. & Mrs Ace Schroer, a daughter, Amber Dawn.


     Apr 28 - James Way of Cottonwood Falls passed away. He was the son of General Grant & Mary Elizabeth Wells Way, born at Elmdale.


     May 12 - John Knights purchase Buck’s Drive-In at Strong City.


     Mabel Harris celebrated her 104th birthday and Aline Kieferle her 101st.


     May 19 - Channel 12 to feature special on Kansas’ famous Flint Hills.


     Roy Clark to perform at the Flint Hills Rodeo.


     Jun 9 - Supreme court may decide on the courthouse cedar tree issue.


     Jun 16 - Zula Bennington Greene, 93, passed away in Topeka. She was known as “Peggy of the Flint Hills.”


     Mr. & Mrs Merle Green have a new daughter, Danielle Christin.


     Jul 14 - After a 14 month battle the cedar trees are pulled down. It was a sad day. It is bare and lonely looking on the courthouse square now, as what it took God a hundred years to create; it only took the devil three hours to destroy.


     Jul 28 - County mill levy to increase over 7 mil’s.


     Dr. Devinder Kumar will establish a practice in the Chase County Clinic.


     The Bill Garrs to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.


     Aug 4 - The “Mystique” restaurant owned by C. David Ramsey and His wife, Ardith, will open soon. It is located at 200 Walnut Street on K-177 east of Cottonwood Falls.


     Aug 25 - Keith and Janice Glanville, rural Cottonwood Falls are the parents of a son, Lee James.


     Sep 22 - The Flint Hills Rodeo Association is sponsoring its first annual Flint Hills Ranch Rodeo.


     Sep 29 - Strong City to try additive for water.


     Oct 6 - Cottonwood Falls Cafe to open soon as Dixie-House Cafe, the former Emma Chase Cafe.


     Oct 20 - Pieces of Cedar from the trees removed on the courthouse lawn can be picked up one day only, Friday, Oct. 21st.


     Deaths: Nasario Ybarra, Donald J. Dwelle and Vaden Heathman.
