Nov. 14, 1901 -- The errors committed by some voters and some election officers, at the recent
election would invalidate the election if the officers were of sufficient
importance to warrant a contest. Neither the judges nor clerk at the Elk
precinct signed the returns.
Dr. Yearout, who sold drugs & "Pheesie" in this city twenty-odd years ago,
was in town visiting.
Mr. & Mrs Geo. W. Blackburn of Cedar creek have sold their ranch for $11,250
and are looking for a new home.
The good people of Hymer are making strenuous effects to get a union church
building.
Ezra P. Allen & Annie E. Eager, both of Elmdale, were married. Also Andrew
R. Drummond of Elmdale & Annie B. Van Gordon of Cottonwood Falls.
Born, to Mr. & Mrs Sickler, Wonsevu, a girl.
Nov. 21, 1901 -- May Ryan, teacher of Jackson Dist. #36 will have but one day off, Thanksgiving
during her term.
Marriage license issued to: Benjamin F. Byers of Hymer, & Maggie M. Betty,
of Elmdale.
Mr. & Mrs Geo. Smith, pioneer settlers on Cedar creek, celebrated their 50th anniversary of their marriage.
"The Kilties" will give a concert at the Strong City Auditorium. The band
presents a never to be forgotton appearance in their bare legs, Glengarr
Caps, red jackets & plaid kilts. The band is made up of enlisted British
soldiers.
Nov. 28, 1901 -- Mr. A. R. Ice leaves this week for medical treatment at Kansas City.
Mr. & Mrs Lew Maule have moved to Strong City to live.
Henry Weaver has been appointed, Justice of the Peace, vice Stephenson
resigned.
Lantry Bros. have purchased three locomotives and a lot of flat cars for the
San Franciso contract.
Born, to Mr. & Mrs Dave Howard, this city, a daughter.
Dr. Frank Blackshere has purchased a half interest in Enlow's drug store
in Elmdale.
Messrs. A. J. C. Sieker & A. Reifsnyder have purchased the controlling interest
in the street railway & assumed its management.
Mr. Whipkey & family of Saffordville now occupy the hotel and they are now "in business."
