     Nov 22 1990 - The Bulldogs season comes to an end by losing to Riverton 32-13.


     After all the hassle was over the courthouse will get a Christma tree - barely.


     Dec 6 - One of the last vestiges of Cottonwood Falls railroad history and past is disappearing forever as salvage crews tore down the old Santa Fe railroad trestle bridge entering Cottonwood Falls over the Cottonwood river.


     Dec 13 - The Chase County Historical Society has just completed restoration of the countys first jail on Main street.


     Dec 20 - Deaths: Karl W. Masoner, William L. Parks and William Keith Beardmore.


     Jan 10 1991 - Cottonwood Falls adds animal control ordinance. Cat and dog licensing begins immediately.


     Jan 17 - County near decision to build $1.7 million dollar jail.


     Deaths: Velma N. Rathke, Elmdale native, and Keith “Doc” Bennett, City of Strong employee.


     Jan 24 - Family practitioner Dr. John L. Sherard will open practice here in July.


     Local service men serving in the Persian Gulf are: CW 4 Ronald B. Slabaugh, Sgt. Steven L. Talkington & Pvt. Twayne Cutsinger.


     Feb 7 - Chase County gas rates 44% higher than surrounding communities.


     Feb 14 - Rich Weiss is the new school superintendent of USD-284, replacing Rudy Pouch.


     Jennifer Black is crowned “Queen of Courts,” by the Chase County High School.


     School days lengthened to 15 minutes in Chase County.


     Mr. & Mrs Walt Green are honored on their 40th wedding anniversary.


     Some 49 pronghorn antelope were released in Chase County near Bazaar.


     Feb 21 - Leader-News installs modern computerized typesetting.


     The Cottonwood Falls Hotel on Broadway was purchased by Charles & Merry Rayl. The century old building & lot sold for $30.


     Feb 28 - Deaths: Elmo (Bus) Yoakem who operated the Yoakem Garage in Cottonwood Falls for 54 years; Charlotte “Lottie” Kaltenbacher, homemaker & native of Chase County as was Mr. Yoakem.


     Randy & Teresa Talkington of Matfield Green are the parents of a daughter, Briana Rose. She has one brother, Bradley, 2.


     Mar 7 - The Chase County High Bulldogs basketball team return to State finals for first time since 1965.


     Mr. & Mrs Dean Schroer of rural Strong City will observe their 50th wedding anniversary. The Schroers have farmed & lived on Fox Creek all their 50 years.


     Cottonwood Falls City Council repeals animal vaccination requirement.


     Mar 14 - The Chase County Bulldogs basketball team finished fourth in the State for the year.


     A new Wal-Mart store will be open soon at Emporia.
