     Apr 16 1992 - Ron Mayo is retiring from the Chase County High School staff after teaching the last 27 years.


     Retired Chase County Leader-News longtime co-editor, publisher, Edna Iliff has passed away at the age of 80.


     May 7 - The sheriff moves into the new county jail.


     May 14 - Greeley Gas purchases the Chase County Gas Co.


     The old Cottonwood Falls hotel is getting a facelift, and is scheduled to house a bed and breakfast after being closed for years.


     May 21 - Cottonwood Falls will seek to restore City’s roots at the river, Bates Park.


     The Chase County High School Bulldogs baseball team have advanced to state championship.


     May 28 - Sales tax will increase to 5.9 cents in the cities of Strong City & Cottonwood Falls.


     New name, old roots, Cottonwood Valley Bank at Strong City opens for business.


     Ecstasy & agony, the Chase County High School Bulldogs baseball team finished third in State.


     Jun 11 - One in five Chase countains live below the poverty level.


     Jun 18 - Chase County High’s Derrick Studer is Kansas’ number one champion bull rider at the Kansas High School Rodeo.


     Six inches of rain has fallen already in June.


     Jun 25 - School board may ask for tax hike. People’s Exchange Bank is now the Elmdale Bank.


     Jul 9 - Ken Harder resigns as Cottonwood Falls Mayor, President of the Council, Ted Livingston will automatically succeed to the post of Mayor.


     US 50-W will get $27.8 million upgrading in Chase County.


     Jul 16 - School administrators get pay, benefit hikes up to $7,200 annually. This is the largest one year pay hike ever.


     Jul 23 - Commissioners Ok 16% property tax increase.


     Jul 30 - County tax hike cut back to 5%.


     Cottonwood river crest one foot short of flood stage.


     Aug 6 - Politcal newcomer David Reed defeats Sheriff Larry Sigler.


     Aug 20 - Wells, Yeager strip Olson and new commission board of salaries, reducing $6,000 annual salary to $100 monthly.


     Sep 3 - County moves forword with EMS reorganization.


     Sep 10 - Emmett C. Roberts made his last trip around the rodeo arena in Strong City. E. C. passed away at the age of 97.


     Sep 17 - A long needed exterior facelift is almost complete for the Leader-News.


     Oct 1 - Highway of Death? Chase County’s K-150 State-wide attention.


     Clover Cliff Ranch opens it’s doors to the public.


     Oct 15 - Elmo & Juanita Starkey, of rural Cottonwood Falls celebrate their golden anniversary with a 13 day bus tour in New England.


     Dec 24 - Chase County doesn’t have money to pay jail bonds.
