     Feb 24 1994 - The Cottonwood Falls City Council oks $100,000 in bonds for City building, major step towards bringing Duckwalls here.


     Mar 3 - Elmore & Doris Stout are honored as Stock grower family of the year by K-State Livestock Council.


     Mar 17 - Prairie Rush? 100,000 visitors, $3.5 million annual economic boast expected according to the National Park study.


     Flordia scuba diving outing claims the life of Tim Steadman, 23, of this city. Son of Harold & Shirley Steadman.


     Apr 7 - City residential customers in Strong City & Cottonwood Falls trash pick-up rates will jump 35%.


     Apr 28 - Bob Daub tosses hat into county attorney’s race. Chase County Leader-News named top Kansas weekly.


     May 5 - Jason Fillmore & Derrick Studer-Teufel are winners of a cash scholarship from the Flint Hills Rodeo Association.


     May 19 - Adaline Williams will be honored on her 90th birthday.


     May 26 - For the 19th consecutive year, members of the Kaw Valley Bicycle Touring Club will make memorial weekend tour of the Flint Hills.


     Jun 9 - Chase County Leader-News sets a three year record high for single copy newstand sales.


     Jun l6 - "Symphony on the Praire” was held on the Jane Koger ranch to hear the 60 piece women’s orchestra give a free outdoor concert.


     School Board may end activity busses.


     Jun 23 - Duckwalls seek to move into the renovated building by Aug. 1st.


     Jun 30 - The old stone mill of Cedar Point can be seen again, due to the very hard working County Line 4-H members and their sponsors and others.


     Jul 14 - Patrons not happy with prospect of activity bus program dissolving.


     Charles & Beth (Peyton) Swift of Matfield Green will celebrate their golden anniversary.


     Bryan Conley is killed in a construction accident on US 50 Highway.


     Jul 28 - The 1995 County budget is not as bleak as 1994.


     Aug 11 - Michael E. O’Neal, editor and owner of the Chase County Leader-News has passed away at age 42. Mike was a great editor and ran an excellant newspaper and will be greatly missed.


     Clara Wilson to celebrate her 95th birthday.


     Aug 18 - Duckwall’s are open for business.


     Aug 25 - Howard & Connie Roberts of Strong City will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.


     Oct 13 - Marvin and Vicki Adcock & Ron and Jane Scott have been running the Leader-News since Mike O’Neal’s illness & death some three months ago. But now Jerry & Karen Schwilling will begin publishing the Leader-News.


     Eula (Burton) & Glendon Barrett, rural Cottonwood Falls are to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary; they have been engaged in the farming & dairy business all their married life.


     Oct 20 - The Chase County Leader-News and the Chase County Pioneer became one paper with this issue.
