     1995 - 1996


     Nov 16 1995 - A new bird in town. A Huey UH-1 Helicopter a gift given by the Kansas Army National Guard to the City of Cottonwood Falls. It will sit on a pad in the All Memorial Veterans Park in Swope Park.


     The Cottonwood Valley Bank at Strong City gets a face lift.


     Deaths: George Yeager, 78, of Bazaar and John McCabe, 82, of this city.


     Nov 23 - Notice of sale on sealed bid - Clara Wilson home — 201 Locust, Cottonwood Falls. Located on three lots.


     Ralph Lutt, 81, died at his home in the Cedar Point vicinity. Also Anna Lee Lamb of this city.


     Trail of arson, fires in Chase and Lyon counties cause damage of over $70,000. $5,000 reward offered for information leading to arrest and conviction.


     The Osborn sisters - Bonnie Short, Juanita Miser and Betty Pinkston, celebrate 160 years of married life, as they have all held their wedding anniversaries this year.


     Dec 7 - The Chase County Elementary School has new playground equipment going up.


     Dec 14 - A new sign encouraging travelers on highway 50 to visit the Chase County Courthouse in Cottonwood Falls. The project was a collaboration of the Twin Cities Main Street Association and the Chase County Historical Society.


     Dec 21 - George Blount & Ivan Cooper are packing it in. Blount & Cooper, who have been operating DeWitt's Electric in Cottonwood Falls since 1967 are retiring.


     Jan 4 1996 - Bill Stubenhofer was recognized in a ceremony for his successful completion of over one million safe miles as rural mail carrier out of Strong City. He has worked for the postal service for nearly 30 years.


     Jan 11 - Tracy Griffin & Tyla Hinkson reigned as King & Queen of Courts of the Chase County High School.


     Wendy & Charles Jones, rural Cottonwood Falls have a new baby girl, Jesse Catherine.


     Jan 18 - A new sign marks the Spring Hill-Z-Bar ranch on Highway 177 north of Strong City.


     Deaths: Kenneth H. Clark and Alvin R. Ayers.


     Jan 25 - Streetscape plans for Cottonwood Falls are progressing.


     Feb 15 - Ron Love opens his new business in Strong City, the Strong City Storage facility.


     Deaths: Rudolph Fox, Helen Mann, Earl Steadman, Ethel Bullock, and Harold Wheat.


     Feb 22 - Andy Adcock is the Middle School spelling champ.


     The Twin Cities Main Street Association has disbanded.


     65th anniversary ceremony for Rockne crash planned, spearheaded by Easter Heathman.


     Feb 29 - Governor Bill Graves issues a burning ban due to the extremely dry conditions.


     Mar 7 - EMS Director Leslie Mayer resigns post.


     Strong City continues project on the W. B. Strong Memorial Park.
