     Primary voting resulted in Gerald Ingalls being elected as Chase County’s sheriff on the Republican ticket, and Bert Glanville for Register of Deed’s same ticket. Voter turnout was high with 64 percent of Chase County’s registered voters participating in the election.


     Death of Carl B. Romeiser of Cottonwood Falls. Mr. Romeiser was a farmer & rancher. He was a veteran of WW II, with service in Germany and a veteran of the Korean war. Carl’s wife is the former Ruth Ellen Johnson.


     Aug 15 - Kendra Kay Dawson and Mason Matthew Logan are wed in Cottonwood Falls. Parents of the bride are Kenneth & Vicky Dawson of Cottonwood Falls.


     Flint Hills Rodeo Association boardmember, “Hop” Fillmore was riding pickup at the Youth Rodeo at the Flint Hills Rodeo grounds, on his longtime partner, “Joker.”


     Some of Chase County’s youth participating in the youth rodeo were: Eli, Seth & Grady Fowler, Jace Francka, Emily Mayes, Gregg Fillmore, Seth Potts, & Nick Dupuis.


     Aug 22 - Ryan Kohlmeier modestly announced to the congregation at the Cottonwood Methodist church on Sunday that he had signed a contract to play baseball with the Baltimore Oriole Professional Baseball Organization.


     Julia Eidman and Landon Linsey were wed in the Saffordville Methodist church.


     New school secretaries at the Chase County High School are “Sam” Cahoone & Connie Whitcomb.


     Opal Dick will celebrate her 90th birthday, a card shower has been requested.


     Aug 29 - Laura Mae Spence & Mary Fly are the cooks at the Chase County Middle School.


     Sep 5 - Property values are increasing in Chase County.


     Streetscape committe moving ahead. Design committee submits it’s initial plans.


     Sep 12 - Pearl Childs celebrated her 103rd birthday with all four of her children present, Leola Evans, Helen Dull, Elizabeth Crawford, and Wayne Childs.


     Sep 19 - The Cottonwood Falls City Council accepted the preliminary plans for the Veterans Memorial in Swope Park, Chairperson for the All Veterans Memorial Committee is Charles Rayl.


     Dale & Wilma (Little) Martin of Cottonwood Falls will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Dale & Wilma have lived in Chase County all of their married life.


     9-26- Gordon Heathmans tractor was hit by a train at the South Fork Ranch crossing. Heathman barely made it off the tractor before it was hit.


     Oct 3 - Herbert and Anna Simmons 65th wedding anniversary celebrated. They have lived in the same house for that 65 years and were the parents of four childredn, Herbert, Dorman, Mary and Galen.


     Oct 10 - Kansas’ first National Park awaits President’s signature, that will designate the Z-Bar Ranch a National Park.


     A forty-five thousand dollars of a $50,000 community land grant that was awarded will go toward the construction of the Community Building at Swope Park that is underway.
