Sep 3 - 1998 - There is a new addition at the All Veterans Memorial Park at Swope Park, a 104,000-pound M60A3 Tank.

Sep 10 - Flint Hills Rodeo Association wins local history award. The Flint Hills Rodeo History was put together by Leah Hanson, Wichita.
Sep 17 - Four new lampposts have been placed in front of the Chase County courthouse.
Sep 24 - County sales tax being added to November ballot.
Chase County students doing well in reading and writing, struggling in math.
Bayer Stone, Inc. will host a Quarry Open House at their quarry southeast of Cottonwood Falls.
Oct 1 - Streetscape project is underway. Four lamps are placed on the front lawn of the courthouse.
Coach Tom Grokett’s Chase County Middle school Bullpups suffered a rare defeat to Marion 18-6.
Oct 8 - Danny W. “Dan’ Godfrey, 53, of rural Cottonwood Falls was killed in a Highway 50 accident. He is survived by his wife Barbara, “Bobbi”, three brothers, and one sister.
Oct 15 - The courthouse is currently undergoing some needed repair. The structure is 125 years old.
4-H honors Chase County Extension Agent Mike Holder. Holder has served Chase County for 25 years.
Oct 22 - The Chase County Country Christmas celebration will be held Saturday, Nov. 28th. Numerous events are being planned throughout the day.
Hattie Laughridge will celebrate her 92nd birthday soon. A card shower is requested.
Oct 29 - Deaths: Jack Bennett Glanville, 91, Rollie 0. Scott, 82, and Arlie William Kuertzel, 81.
The Selves twins, Elaine Judd & Bill Selves celebrating their 80th birthday.
Nov 5 - Weekend rains flood Chase Co.
Nov 12 - Chase County to be declared a Federal Disaster.

Nov 26 - This year there will be six places on the Country Christmas home tours, The Z-Bar Ranch, Chase County Historical Society Museum, Joe & Arlene Evans, Trey & Sarah Bare, Sue Hovey & Mary Showalter.
Dec 10 - Dale E. Martin, 72, of Cottonwood Falls has passed away. He married Wilma Little and they were the parents of two daughters, Beverly & Becky.
Dec 17 - Work is continuning on the new FAI, building on Highway K-l77.
Francis and Lela Wilcox Towle will celebrate their 50 years together.
