     Jan. 2, 1902 -- Born to Mr. & Mrs Print Thurston, near Elmdale, a son also a son to Mr. & Mrs Judd Williams, on Fox Creek.

     A sunrise prayer meeting was held at the Presbyterian church, New Year's morning.

     Miss Sarah A. Stonestreet died at her home near Clements.

     D. F. Shirk, Miss Maloy, & W. W. Austin are the oldest members of the State Teacher's Assoc. in Chase Co.

     The body of Mrs Samuel Beverlin who died in Chautauqua Co. was brought to Elmdale and buried. The deceased was one of the early settlers of this county.

     Mr. & Mrs C. H. Wilhite of Bazaar and daughter Bertha, entertained their friends on Christmas night with a very enjoyable dance & card party.

     Heckendorn & Bablits are paying 6 cents for good hogs.

     Jan. 9, 1902 -- There will be a literary at Lookout school next week. Everyone invited.

     Married yesterday, at the home of the bride's father, Dr. F. T. Johnson, this city, Clair A. Evans & M. Ethel Johnson; Hattie E. Gray, this city, & Harry R. Colwell of Okla.

     Jan. 16, 1902 -- Dances are plentiful and the old folks say it is time to let up and work a little.

     Earl Blackshere & J. J. Holmes have shipped several car loads of alfalfa hay to Kansas City.

     The Ice boys threshed 325 bushels of Kaffir Corn.

     Dr. Steele has been appointed Corneror. Dr. Johnson, resigned.

     Mrs Rockhold, who died from consumption has been expected to die for some time.

     Geo. W. Brickell, was in town and brought with him the pleasant airs from "Happyland of Canaan."
