     Dec 17 - 1998 - Voices of Chase County High will be on television KAKE-TV, Channel 10, in Wichita. The program will air on Christmas Eve.


     Dec 24 - Annual subscriptions for the Chase County Leader-News are $24.00 in County and $27.00 elsewhere.


     Jan 7 - 1999 - Linda Linnens, 47, of Cedar Point dies of accident injuries.


     Former Cottonwood Falls residents, Fred J. Arnold, 77, and Geraldine Arnold, 80, passed away at Victorville, Ca. Graveside services were held in the Prairie Grove cemetery at Cottonwood Falls.


     Jan 14 - New Commissioners are, Alan Phipps & Gary Bruch and they were sworn in by Judge Lee Fowier.


     Jan 21 - Workers are busy setting up Bev. Pinkston’s new Cuttin Up Style Salon in Strong City.


     Bob Burright has been appointed by the County Commissioners as the new EMS director.


     Deaths: Arthur E. Triemer and Glen P. Eidman.


     Workers are busy putting the roof on the new FAI building on Walnut street.


     Feb 4 - Travis Harlan & Haley Phipps were announced as the Chase County High King & Queen of Courts for 1999.


     Karl F. Hubert of Strong City passed away. Mr. Hubert was the custodian at the former Strong City High School and then the Chase County Middle School for 23 years before retiring in 1993.


     Rachel Sayre Rees & Les Cooper celebrate their 80th birthdays.


     Lady Bullpups engineer big win over Herington, 31-13.


     Feb 11 - Deaths: J. Richard Barrett and John H. Weber.


     Feb 25 - The high school open lunch hour may be shut down.


     Four Chase County High wrestlers advance to State. They are Justin Kohlmeier, Matt Rogers, Travis Harlan, and Jason Passmore.


     Mar 4 - Cottonwood Falls City Supervisor Don Lawrence was honored at a retirement party.


     Kohlmeier & Harlan place at State Wrestling Tournament in Hays.


     Mar 11 - The 1999 Chase County spelling bee champion is Lisa Davis, a 6th. grader of the Chase County Middle School. Lisa is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs Mark Davis of Strong City.


     Mar 18 - Clarita Baker is in charge at the new Teen Center in Strong City.


     Mar 25 - Swimming area closed at the Chase County State Lake by the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife & Parks officals.


     Apr 1 - Helen M. Chapman, 91, of Cottonwood Falls passed away. Helen was the daughter of Bernard & Vera M. (Heathman) McCabe. She married Howard L. Chapman in 1927. Helen taught many years in schools of Chase County.


     Apr 8 - Cedar Point Mayor and City Council ousted by write-ins at the Tuesday’s election.


     The County Commissioners Okayed $144,798 on courthouse project.


     Fred Swenson celebrated his 95th birthday at the Chase County Senior Center.


     Kent and Jennifer Crawford of Elmdale are the proud parents of a new baby girl, Daryn Alexis. Daryn has a big brother, Daulton
