     Apr 15 - 1999 - The Commissioners appeal to the Wildlife & Parks concerning swimming at the Chase County State Lake.


     Fidel & Teresa Ybarra have celebrated their 50th anniversary. Their children and friends had a surprise party for them.


     Apr 22 - City plans to take action on Sycamore Street.


     Charles & Wendy Jones, Cottonwood Falls, have a new daughter, named Ellen Mae.


     Apr 29 - Deaths: Orville W. Peterson, Marie A. Isbell, Anna I. Bastin and Bernice S. Gwyn.


     May 6 - Chase Countain Mamie Meyers celebrated her 105th birthday.


     May 13 - Deaths: August Lalouette, Earl W. Kleinsorge, and Pauline M. (Vaughn) Remy.


     Gary Peterson is the executor for Orville W. Peterson Estate.


     May 20 - Work is nearing completion on the Lower Fox Creek School house by the National Park Service.


     Paul & Velma Scharenberg will soon celebrate their 60 years of married life together.


     The Chase County Middle School is 25 years old. The first principal was John Schierling and Sybil Ingalls was secretary.


     May 27 - Gilbert and Libby Waddell Trussell will celebrate their 50th anniversary.


     Jun 3 - Cottonwood Falls will host Folklife Festival soon.


     Streetscape project in Cottonwood Falls is looking for funding, in fact about $40,000 is needed.


     Jun 10 - The Teen Center is running on empty.


     Rodeo numbers were down this year.


     Mr. & Mrs Norman Clothier to celebrate their 60th anniversary at Florence.


     Jun 24 - The swimming area at the lake may be open before Independence Day.


     Deaths: Opal F. Dick, Roy R. “Pappy’ Burton, Richard “Dick” Miller and Arthur Eugene Baker.


     Jul 8 - Alumni banquet held at the Chase County High School was attended by 205 alumnis & guests. Frank Gaddie and Wallace Evans of the class of 1927 were the oldest.


     Sandy Miller was honored for her 25 years of service at the Chase County Health & Rehabilitation Center.


     Deaths: Carl A. Wyatt, Ruth E. Welch, Douglas Stedry and Wayne S. Childs.


     Jul 15 - Don Evans, 75, has donated 108 pints of blood since 1952, to the American Red Cross blood drive.


     Jul 22 - Chase County has a new Sheriff’s Deputy, Derek Fetrow.


     This was a good year for Brome & Prairie Hay.


     Jul 29 - Elmore Stout is stepping down as Chase County Fair secretary/Treasurer after nearly five decades.


     Aug 5 - State School Board finally notifies Chase County High of accreditation.
