     Aug 5 - 1999 - J. T. & Mary Overstreet celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The family request a card shower.


     Charles L. Magathan, Cedar Point and Mary M. Meek, Wichita acquire a marriage license.


     Aug 12 - Youth rodeo will be held at the Flint Hills Rodeo Grounds in Strong City this weekend.


     Clara Wilson celebrating 100 years.


     Aug 19 - 50 years of marriage is observed by Howard & Peggy Wood. They lived on the family farm at Clements for 45 years.


     Aug 26 - Hubert "Hubie" Crichton, Chase County Elementary custodian is retiring. He has been at the school for 13 years.


     Graveside services for Dwight Seymour Weaver, 95, of Cottonwood Falls were held in the Prairie Grove cemetery. Mr. Weaver was a native born of Chase County in 1904.


     Sep 2 - The courthouse is an Official Project of Save America’s Treasures.


     Sep 16 - Repairs to the dam on the Cottonwood river is progressing. The concrete work on the dam’s face has been completed.


     Sep 23 - The City of Strong raises its sewer rates.


     Deaths: Harvey J. “June” Johnson, & Charles Sisson.


     Sep 30 - Chase County students score well on ACT test.


     Oct 3 - Kristen Scott & Brook Havens are homecoming royalty for 1999.


     Oct 14 - Commissioners approve raises for jailers.


     FAI Cottonwood Products will hold open house on Oct 22, 1999.


     Oct 21 - Deaths: John B. Johnson & Rae J. Beach.


     Kansas Farm Family of the year is Gene and Gwen Eidman & Family.


     Oct 28 - Deaths: Marvin L. Dull, Esther Cowley Haskell and Lowell W. Swender.


     Nov 4 - Recycling program comes to Chase County.


     The dam repair at the Cottonwood river is completed according to City Supervisor Ron Lake.


     Nov 11 - Deaths: Jewell P. Swift, Sr., Pascal Allen Roniger, and Myrtle E. Blackburn.


     Nov 18 - There are nine candidates for this year’s Miss Merry Christmas in Chase County.


     The Cottonwood river is out of control again.


     Nov 25 - The Elmdale Christian church was moved from it’s Elmdale location to the Stoehr Elmdale Cemetery west of Elmdale.


     Greenbugs rapidly starting to threaten the wheat crop reported by Mike Holder County Extension Agent for Chase County.
