Feb. 6, 1902 -- Scarcely a day passes that the people of this city are not offered stock in Texas coal oil companies at prices "guaranteed" to pay
100 per cent or more.

Ben Riccard has moved back to Chase Co. and located on the old Hardesty farm on Diamond creek.
There is an extended strike in town against the present rate for telephones. The patrons are demanding that residence phone shall be reducted to $1.00 per month and business phones to $1.50.
Our new merchant, Ed Bocook, of Matfield is doing a good business.
Wm. Snediger will move to Sharp's creek next month.
There is a move to put in a city water system. Estimated costs roughly are
between $15,000-$20,000.
Green & Co. of Clements have filled their ice house with good ice in sufficient
quantity.
Feb. 13, 1902 -- Mr. W. L. Johnson died of measles at her home on Middle creek,
near Hymer.
M. P. Strail has put into his blacksmith & wagon shop a 22 horse power gasoline
engine, a new powerful lathe,a grind stone and emery wheel & other machinery.
Wm. Martin, an old and respected citizen of Strong City died of complication
of diseases.
Sidney Harbor is feeding cattle on the McKittrick ranch.
Dora Raymond is head cook on the Heckendorn ranch.
Marriage license issued to; Wm. B. Davidson & Mrs Elizabeth J. Raymond, both
of Cottonwood Falls.
Feb. 20, 1902 - J. A. Kingery has been appointed postmater at Morgan, vice
Francis resigned.
J. C. Thompson is again a victim of chicken theives. He started out the
winter with 50 and now has only 23 left.
Paul Smith, an old resident of Strong City died of consumption, last Sunday.
Bill Romigh, Pat Norton & Arthur Crocker took in the cattle show at Wichita.
Rena the oldest daughter of Mr. & Mrs Clifford Bickell of Clements, died of
pneumonia.
Wm. Tittle is running a large stock ranch on Coon creek.
Feb. 27, 1902 -- A delegate concention of the Republications of Chase Co. will be held in the court room.
