Feb. 27, 1902 -- C. A. Britton has died in Cal. Mr. Britton had located
Cottonwood Falls in 1866 and rebuilt the mill at this place.
Marriage licenses issued to; Harvey Hudson & Cora Cuppy, both of Clements;
Agustus M. Potts of Bazaar, & Fannie E. Morris of Morgan.
Jesse Crissup of Cedar Point & Julia Schrumpff of Strong City were married.
F. L. Peterson, teacher at Wonsevu school has resigned.
The Chase Co. schools contributed $10.86 to the McKinley memorial fund.
The apportionment of the state school fund is completed & Chase Co. gets
$1,122.42-39 cents per capita.
March 6, 1902 - Annual meeting of township trustee, J. M. Crouch elected
chairman and Henry Rogler, secretary.
John Barrett is building a residence on his farm east of town. It will be
a full two stories high and contain 8 rooms.
Wm. Norton was appointed postmater. He will assume the duties of office
April 1st.
Frank Hackett has purchased the Elmdale Reporter.
A half dozen citizens of Elmdale, and vicinity appeared in the probate
court to contest the issuing of a druggist's permit to sell liquor to
H. M. Moore.
A lovely spring wedding was held at the bride's home near Morgan, Fannie
Morris to Augustus Potts. They will make their home on the Pat McCabe farm.
Chris Kaufman has purchased the old Ransford farm about 3 miles south of
Elmdale.
Will Brown is building a steam mattress factory on the east side of Broadway.
A vote to consolidate districts No. 4 & 23, on Diamond Creek for the purpose
of forming a joint district, carried in both districts.
The Sharp's creek school is progressing nicely under the management of Miss
Dozier.
March 13, 1902 - Mrs Julia A. Bailey has died at Elmdale, of bronchial
pneumonia after two weeks of suffering.
Marriage license issued to; Oscar Pracht, & Mary Lockridge, both of Elk;
Thompson L. Browning & Nora Kerr, both of Saffordville.
Mr. & Mrs Harman Baker of Wonsevu are the parents of a baby boy, who died
a few hours later.
H. A. Ewing attended the Republican convention at the Falls.
A son was born to Mr. & Mrs Jerry Brown of the Falls
Married by Judge McDonald in the court room, Halbert H. Rude of Diamond
Springs to Ella M. Kennison of Elmdale.
