     March 13, 1902 - John Bechelmayer sued the Santa Fe for $10,000 for the killing of his child near Elmdale last April, and the jury returned a verdict of $1,799.

     March 20, 1902 - Mr. & Mrs Arthur Coats are the parents of a new daughter. Grandma Miller is happy.

     Mr. King has resigned his position on the mail route and will work on the Mercer ranch.

     Bonnie Lytton, one of our home boys, has a position in the Santa Fe offices in Topeka.

     Herbert Clark, son of A. M. Clark and a Chase Co. boy of whom we are always proud, has been appointed as head of the Haskell Indian school at Lawrence.

     The "Bachelor Girls" entertained the "Bachelor Boys" at the home of Maude & Lon Kuhl.

     After 17 years the firm of Holmes & Gregory will cease to exist, E. F. Holmes is retiring. Will & C. M. Gregory will continue the business.

     Mrs. Wm. Stubenhofer dies at her home on Diamond creek.

     March 27, 1902 -- The Congregational church at Strong City will be moved to a site opposite the auditorium. A large basement will be put under it.

     Mrs. Robert Williams died at her residence near the Chase Co.'s. stone quarry.

     Born to Sherman Sayre & wife, a baby boy.

     April 3, 1902 -- The Wonsevu nine and others played ball on the city square Sunday afternoon.

     Judge Geo. W. Kilgore died at Strong City he filled two years as Chase Co. Judge. He servered in the Union Army.

     Geo. W. Stephenson, age 47 died at Falls City, Washington of typhoid fever, the eldest son of Wm. M. Stephenson.

     An old settler A. R. Ice of Clements has died. He suffered with fistula for some time. A. R. Ice was 67 years of age.

     Green W. Pritchett, know by some of the residents of this city, was shot dead in the city of Corydon, Kentucky.

     The Populist state convention will be held soon. Chase Co. will be entitled to five delegates.
