May 29, 1902 -- Henry R. Miller died at the home of his daughter, Mrs J. R.
Hamilton, near Matfield. His many friends respected him and his children
worshipped him.
List of some of the June term jurors are; Geo. Dawson, Lewis Duehn, Andrew
Drummond, Fred Yenzer, A. E. Stout & Geo. Harland.
Walter Matti was a graduate of the Common school with an average standing
of 85.
The almost incessent rain for 10 days raised the Cottonwood river higher than
it has been for several years.
Glen Patton graduates from the Emporia College and gave the salutatory.
June 5, 1902 - The County institute opened with an enrollment of 60.
Mr. Akers, assistant postmaster of Elmdale, is reported at the point of death
from small pox. He is being cared for at the pest house. Died a week later.
Dave Martin, son of Wm. Martin of Elmdale, was killed at Raton, N. M. He
was a breakman for the railroad.
Miss Carrie Breese has been installed as bookkeeper at Talkington & Woods
hardware store at Elmdale.
Henry Lantry & family will move to San Franciso for 5 or 6 years.
