     June 5, 1902 -- Jas. Hazel, an old & Highly respected citizen of this city, died at the residence of Frank Yeager near Bazaar. He was 75 and was sick a long time.

     John C. McCabe & family of Bazaar will leave for Colorado, Texas, where John will go into the hotel business.

     June 12, 1902 -- 8 bridges, many of them large ones, were washed out in this township during the high water.

     Strong City Derrick; The auditorium dance floor was flooded, the water was immediatelyy swept out with no bad effect.

     Mrs Will McNee & Mrs Agnes McNee each received pianos, with pianola attachments, they are of the Chickering brand.

     C. I. Maule one of the first merchants to locate in Strong City sold his stock of general merchandise and will retire.

     June 19, 1902 -- John Shofe caught a 38 lb. catfish on the Cottonwood River.

     Young Musgrove, who almost drown near Saffordville last week, is on his way to recovering.

     Linen shower given for Gertie Estates whose approaching marriage to Lester Perry of Emporia has been announced.

     June 26, 1902 -- Some of the best trotting, pacing & running horses in the state will be at the 4th. of July event.

     County institute closes tomorrow. The total enrollment is 65, the smallest in many years.

     H. T. Killingsworth & Veda Shaw both of Hymer were married.

     T. H. Grishman went to the People's Party Convention as a Populist and came back a Democrat.

     M. K. Harman is overhauling & renovating the old Hinckley House.

     A daughter is born to Mr. & Mrs John Barrett east of the Falls.

     Frank Frey returned from Wis. where he attended a reunion of his regiment.

     John Warren began carrying the mail on the Wonsevu route.

     Mrs E. W. Pinkston as named her farm "Golden Grain Place."

     July 3, 1902 -- Over forty teachers will be required to supply the county schools in addition to those already holding certicicates.

     June 1902, was the coldest June in memory of the oldest inhabitants.

     A marriage license was issued to Celia Crawford & Claude W. Hawkins, both of Clements.
