     Aug. 14, 1902 -- Wm. F. Jeffrey, one of Diamond Creek's esteemed citizens died in Wichita. The deceased was an extensive stockholder in the Chase County National Bank & Elmdale Bank.

     Dr. Crain the osteopath will move to Emporia.

     Mr. & Mrs John Silverwood's infant daughter has died.

     T. G. Allen has added another son to the family roll call. Also Mr. & Mrs Fred Kerr, of the Falls have a new son.

     J. N. Miller, republican candidate for congress, will attend the republician county convention.

     Sealed bids will be received to build a new school house in district No. 30, Prairie Hill.

     R. 0. Miner, of Saffordville is announced this week for the office of Chase County Treasurer. H. C. Stephenson and J. E. Bocook for County Clerk.

     Mr. & Mrs Nim Huntley, of Wonsevu have a new baby girl.

     August 21, 1902 -- Dewia Hegwer is the teacher at Rock Creek for the coming term.

     Mrs Harvey Hudson (Cora Cuppy) who was recently married in Feb. of this year, has died.

     Allen Johnson, after serving over 3 years in the hospital corps in the Philippine Islands arrived home.

     A marriage license was issued to Lloyd E. Cress & Cadiz G. Emerson, both of Cedar Point.

     Auq. 28, 1902 -- Prof. O'Brian, principal of the city schools, has arrived.

     Chase County's population is placed at 7,290 a decrease of 634.

     The recent rains have washed over 100 bushel of corn off the Vinson ranch near Rock Creek.

     Sept. 4. 1902 - Sam Thomas commences a new school house on Prairie Hill.

     Labor Day was faithfully observed by the banks & the post office, but other people worked away as usual.

     P. P. Carmichael is a successful business man and will be moving soon to Mo.

     A son is born to Mr. & Mrs Enos Heckendorn of Wonsevu.

     Sept. 11, 1902 -- Mr. & Mrs E. L. Randolph, east of the Falls, are the parents of a son.

     Lafe Crister of Cedar Point left very suddenly for the territory and is sorely wanted by some of his neighbors.

     Ferd Dwelle has completed his new residence near Cedar Point.

     A. J. Crocker of Elinor has sold his splendid farm to Mr. Littler, the price paid was $50 per acre.

     Lynn Maddux age 21 and Lettie Burton, age 19 were married by Judge McDonald. It was an elopement.

     Mrs Mat Makin who was previous to her marriaqe Miss Barrett of Bloody creek, has died. She was an Aunt of John Barrett.

     Rufus Kirk left for Baldwin to attend Baker University.
