     Sept. 18, 1902 -- Albin Brandley, an old settler has died, at his farm near ElReno. Mr. Brandley was born in Switzerland and settled in Chase Co. in 1859 and married Miss Polly Sharp.

     fred Imm is putting in a bowling alley at Strong City.

     Mr. & Mrs C. D. Arnold, east of town have a new son. Mr. & Mrs John Lockmiller also a son.

     Wm. Swank & Mrs Whetstine were married at Emporia; & Ted Hazel of the Falls & Fannie Dary formerly of Strong City.

     Mr. Hoskins will open a general store & Dr. Heller a drug store at Clements.

     Sept. 25, 1902 -- Miss Adaline Rogler is teaching school a few miles east of Matfield.

     Col. Chas. S. Hills. President of Catlin Tabacco Co. of St. Louis, has died. He was the first post master of Chase Co. being appointed in 1858.

     The voting place in Toledo Township has been changed from Toledo to Saffordville

     The Cedar Point & Clements telephone have the poles in place for their line to Wonsevu.

     Thos. Dary, about 76 father of Dr. Dary was killed by a train at Strong City.

     Rufus Bartlett died at Morgan, he had settled in Chase Co. in 1888. Grandma Cope has passed away, she leaves 3 sons, J. W. Cope of Clements being one.

     The new station agent at Cedar Point is G. F. Morgan.

     Oct. 2, 1902 -- Rev. Herbert G. Crocker, son of A. J. Crocker formerly of this county is to be married to Grace Price of New York.

     -? M. Gillett has been appointed weather manipulator by the weather bureau at Washington.

     The new boys band has been organizated. Dr. Kendal will be the general manager & Mr. Grady as teacher. Some of the members so far are; James McNee, Frank Brow: Robt. McNee. Willie Gregory. Sidney Replogle, Harry Carter, Kirk Hilton & Ralph Jones.

     The Michler ranch, formerly the McHenry ranch will sell at public auction south- east of Bazaar.

     The Philip Sausa band will perform at the Strong City Auditorium soon. Reserved seat admission $1.00, General admission 75 cents.

     Oct. 9, 1902 -- Mrs N. J. Swayze formerly of this city, died at her home in Kansas City of heart disease. Her husband established the first bank in Chase Co in 1873.

     Mr & Mrs Henry Williams of Cedar Point are the parents of a son.

     Ray Patton is the teacher at the Jackson school near Wonsevu.

     Oct. 16, 1902 -- The Central telephone office is at the Wm. Holmes residence at Cedar Point.

     The Art Exhibit at Music Hall is to be held Oct. 23 thru 25. See exquisite china paintinq. Mrs M. J. Rockwood, is the President of the exhibit.

     The street car Co. has sold 2 of their old cars & bought new ones. Bart Shipman & Con Harvey bougth the old cars & will use them as automobiles.

     Miss Maude Rogler starts the last of this month for Lindsberg, to attend Bethany College.
