     Oct. 23, 1902 -- Rev. S. R. Sayre and family expect to move to Marion soon. He preached his farewell sermon on Sunday.


     E. A. Ferquson married Miss Pearl Andrews in Cottonwood Falls.


     Asa Riqgs little baby died at Plesant Valley of brain fever.


     A new baby boy at Scott Dennison's at Strong City.


     Only 5 cents fare on the street railroad after 10 PM.


     A beautiful oil painting of the Madonna & Child by Carrie Breese is on exhibition at Replogle's.


     Bazaar has been shipping durinq the last month from 20 to 30 carloads of cattle each week.


     R A Ferguson & Pearl Andrews were issued a marriage license.


     J. M. Hamme has been appointed a member of the Ks. State Medical Board.


     Oct. 30, 1902 -- The Odd Fellows conferred the initiatory degree on Henry Slabaugh.


     W. A. Wood sold his hardware business in Elmdale to C. N. Moody.


     A new baby girl is at the Steward Baker's.


     Tom Whites popcorn machine is another addition to Cottonwood's industries.


     Floyd Francis the 3 month old twin of E. B. Laughridge, died at his home at Cedar Point.


     Nov. 6, 1902 -- Dedication of the Methodist Church of Saffordville is to be held with President Murlin of Baker Univ. conductinq the services.


     The little dauqhter of Seward Baker who was born about a week ago has died.


     Walter Holcomb was shot and seriously wounded.


     Nov. 13, 1902 -- The horse race between Henry Main & Bent Thompson was won by Main.


     Two people joined in the holy ties of wedlock. They are Robert Linsay Cochrane & Nettie I. Holsinger and the marriage is the culmination of school day love idyl.


     Phil Goodreau has sold the Reveille & moved to Burlington.


     J. E. Garner, an old citizen of Saffordville died of consumption.


     A son is born to Mr. & Mrs John Crawford, Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Patton. and the Henry Rogler's have a new baby girl.


     Wm. Finney & Carrie Penrod of Bazaar are wed also Arived Holmberg & Anna Greenlish of Strong City.


     The post office in Saffordville was burglarized last week by unknown parties.


     Nov. 20, 1902 -- Martin Shaft of Ca. has rented his brother, D. P. Shaft's farm for the coming year.


     The school population of Chase Co. is 2849.


     A baby was born to Mr. & Mrs Copland; Mr. & Mrs Al Lewis. and Mr. & Mrs Fred Scharpf all of Strong City. And Mr. & Mrs J. H. Mercer of Bazaar, a girl.


     Mrs Geo. Harlan of Matfield has passed away.


     A sufficient sum to pay all the indebtedness & over $90, was raised at the Methodist Church dedication at Saffordville.


     The Diamond Creek meeting house at Hymer will be dedicated by Elder Botkins of Winfield.
