     Jan. 22, 1903 -- The Santa Fe is puttinq down a brick crossing from the Commercial hotel to the Ryan hotel.


     Frank Cox & Mary Watchous of Matfield were granted a marriage license in Marion Co.


     County Surveyor Horner will be in his office every Saturday.


     Died at the home of Mr. & Mrs Enos Heckendorn a little boy of four months.


     John M. Grissom & Mamie Pyles both of Cedar Point are married.


     Jan. 29, 1903 -- J. A. Barker has sold his farm this side of Bazaar to Davis & Hiner.


     The Santa Fe Depot at Bazaar was robbed. The only thing of value missing was two cases of whisky.


     Will L. Coleman of Clements who was accidently shot a few weeks ago has died of lock jaw.


     Feb. 5, 1903 -- Mrs Cora Brown of Matfield passed away. Her maiden name was Johnson. Her husband is J. W. Brown one of Chase County's successful school teachers.


     The announcement has been made on the marriage of Maude Triplett, class of 1900 to Mr. Duncan McAlpine of Elmdale.


     Born to Mr. & Mrs Henry Zimmerman of Strong City, a son.


     Mr. & Mrs Oscar Pratt of Middle creek lost their baby by death last week.


     Ed Brandley presented Sheriff Gloyd with a handsomely engraved gold-plated sheriff's badge.


     Uniforms for the Boys Band have been ordered. They are dark green with black facing & are very handsome.


     Feb. 12, 1903 -- There are 16 members of the Chase Co. bar of which 4 are lawyers.


     Dave Biggam has been appointed as assistant serg't-at-arms of the senate.


     Births - Mr. & Mrs Walter McFarland of Wonsevu a girl; Mr. & Mrs Ena Shaft, Clements, a son.


     J. M. Yoakem has purchased a carpet loom.


     Feb. 19, 1903 -- Mr. & Mrs Walter West are the parents of a lovely daughter.


     Miss Adla Byram is teaching at the Toledo school this term.


     Robert Holmes has purchased 2 lots on the east side of Broadway & contemplates putting up a store room 44 x 80 feet with a basement.


     Married by Justice of the Peace Weaver, C. G. Hiler of Elmdale & Alberta Davis of Strong City.


     John Mann has purchased the Ed Wilcox pasture (440 acres) west of Spring creek.


     Feb. 26, 1903 -- The Leader is in its 32 year of publishing.


     A daughter was born to Mr. & Mrs Henry Foreman of Toledo.


     Dr. Hamme & Tad Smith attended the Masonic Grand Lodge in Wichita.


     Mr. & Mrs Sam Slabaugh celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at Wonsevu.
