     Jul. 2, 1903 -- A Chase Co. Teachers Association was organized at the close of the Normal Institute by electing Prof. B. F. Martin, President and Miss Edna Holcombe, Treasurer & Secretary.

     James Rayburn an old resident of Chase Co. was killed by a falling derrick near Cedar Point.

     Charlie Swift of Matfield dies.

     A. T. & S. F. are putting in water works at the Clements stock yards.

     July 9 -- Ex-Commissioner John Kelley of Sharp's creek dies at the age of 78.

     Chas. Sayre has been appointed one of the assistant grain inspectors of Ks.

     July 16 -- David Cox of Strong City has died. He served 3 years in the Civil War in the 11th West Virginia.

     Supt. Allen named John McElfresh as truant office for Chase Co.

     The following persons were appointed as trustees for the County High School; J. H. Mercer, Robert Matti, W. J. McNee, John Frew, Amos Hess & John Fisher.

     Captain Brandley is building lumber sheds at Matfield and will start an extensive lumber yard.

     Mat McCabe & bride will make their home in Montana.

     July 23 -- The Chase Co. High School will hold its first session of a nine-month term. B. F. Martin was elected as the Principal.

     Celia Gossway & B. F. Martin are married. Mr. Martin has taught school in Chase Co. for the past ten years and was just elected principal.

     Deaths; Scott Fent son of A. T. Fent of Matfield, Eight month old baby of Dr. & Mrs Hoover of Saffordville.

     July 30 -- An ordiance published states that Cottonwood Falls will soon have about a mile & half of new stone sidewalks to be constructed.

     Elmdale has a girls cornet band which just began taking instructions.

     Clement V. Ice has died at his home at Clements.

     Baby of Mr. & Mrs Henry McCracken has died.
