     Aug. 1, 1903 -- Married Minnie ImMasche & Geo. Lawrence, Aura Pratt & Albert F. Root, Margaret Shriver & B. L. Brokett, & Lizzie Madden & A. J. Walker.


     Wm. Brown is the only practical undertaker in the county.


     Rev. Matzat of the German Luthern Church of Strong City left for Illinois where he will farm.


     Births - J. 0. Wilson's of Clements a girl, Geo. & Minnie Dawson, a son.


     Aug. 13, 1903 - Marriage of Joseph Mackey & Jessie Talkington.


     Patterson & Coe will open a stock of millinery in the former reading room.


     A. B. Howard has been appointed by Mayor Grisham as delegate to the Trans- Mississippi Congress at Seattle, Wash.


     Ivan Thompson has died.


     Aug. 20 -- C.E.V. Convention is held at the Presbyterian church.


     Joseph Herring of Matfield died, he was a member of the 11th Minn. Infantry during the Civil War.


     S.R.J. Picard's have a new baby boy.


     W. W. Austin has resigned his position with the Rock Island and will prepare to take up his position in the city schools.


     J. W. Gayer of the Lee Ranch sold his belongings and will leave for Texas.


     Cora the 17 year old daughter of Mr. & Mrs Deel of Plesant Valley has died.


     Aug. 27 - The Strong City band gave a concert on the Mahan lawn.


     A. W. Ault arrived from Baldwin to get ready for his teaching job at the County High School.


     Scott Sense has opened a barber shop north of the Eureka House.


     A Sabbath school was organzied at the Miller School House, District No. 19. Officers elected, Superintendent, J. B. Clark, Assistant Superintendent, J. L. Cooper, Secretary & Treasurer, Archie Miller, Jr.


     Sept. 3 -- Everett Wilson's home on upper Fox Creek has burned.


     Sidney Breese can now be found at Replogle's Corner Drug Store.


     L. R. Holmes received his diploma from the Barnes School of Anatomy, Sanitary Science & Embalming.


     The Matfield Bank is now an established fact. They expect to be open for business by Oct. 1st.


     Sept. 10 - Eleven year old Geo. Augustus Waddell, was accidentally shot by a 22-caliber rifle. His parents are W. A. & H. J. Waddell.


     Miss Lizzie Collett will soon open a Dress Making & Tailoring Establishment in the Falls.


     Dr. A. M. Conaway of Saffordville took the next two degrees, in the Masonry, making hime Master Mason. His father Dr. C. L. Conaway is Worthy Master.


     L. R. Holmes has begun excavating for his new building.


     W. H. Springer has sold his farm on South Fork to Jas. Reed of Middle creek for $30 an acre.
