     Jan. 7, 1904 -- A boy is born to the August Links & also to the Art Jones.

     The Rural Route of this place with James McElfresh as carrier started operation Jan. 1st.

     M. C. Newton was appointed truancy officer by Supt. T. G. Allen.

     A bonus of $2,000 is asked of the people of this place and this bonus is almost pledged for the building of a mill.

     State Supt. L. L. Dayhoff has selected T. G. Allen to assist in the preparation of the questions for common school examination. This is quite a compliment for Mr. Allen.

     An Oil and Gas Co. is organized at Strong City. P. J. Norton is named as President and J. M. Clay Secretary.

     The following is a rough estimate of the business done by the Santa Fe at this place during 1903; cars received, Coal 89, lumber 45, flour & feed 43, livestock 15, building material 24, salt, vegetables, imple- ments, oil, ice, etc. 30, Total 247. A fine business showing.

     Ladies wool-lined shoes for winter, $1.15 at Cowley & McDowell's.

     Jan. 14 -- It was decided by the Exchange National Bank to increase the number of directors from seven to nine. P. H. Lind of Toledo, & E. B. Green of Bazaar were elected as new directors.

     Bids will be received at the office of W. J. McNee Treasurer of school district number six, Chase County for the erection of a two story building.

     Valuation of the Elmdale Bank is established at $4,270.

     0. D. Jones is to be paid $35 per month as janitor for the court house.

     At the Commissioners proceeding, the petition to change boundarys between Falls and Strong township is rejected.

     At the stockholders meeting of the Strong City Musical and Literary Assn. the following officers were elected; H. E. Lantry, President, P. J. Norton, Vice-president, J. A. Costello, Secretary, T. J. Ryan, Treasurer. John Frew was elected manager for the coming year.

     W. A. Waddell has sold his farm to Dan Foxworthy and Rich Hunter.

     Born to Mr. & Mrs Ira Smith of the Falls, a daughter.

     The large bell at Canaan can be heard in East Buckeye, over two miles away.

     Jan. 21 - Messrs Kern of Missouri & Gulliford of Cedar Point are ready to start building the mill. The old mill will be torn down first.

     Mr. & Mrs Adrian Bocook have a new baby girl.

     Mrs Susan Stout died at her home east of Plymouth.

     Mrs Tina Lynch also died at Strong City at the home of Miss Hannah Maloney.

     Mrs J. H. Wheeler died at her home five miles southeast of Clements along with her new born baby boy.
