     Feb. 11 - Dug Raymer & Frank Miller have bought S. W. Beach's quarrying outfit.

     Fred Imm of Elk had another girl added to his family. Fred says he now has five daughters and every daughter has a brother.

     Feb. 18 - J. H. Dootittle wins first prize of $5.00 in the Old Fiddlers contest at Strong City.

     Bonds for the city building carry at the Falls by 168 to 118. The amount is set for $8,000.

     Mr. Hildinger has moved into his new store room north of Smith Bros. This will be an ideal dry goods store.

     Frank C. Wagoner & Maude Hamilton both of Matfield were married in the office of the county clerk by Justice McWilliams.

     Feb. 25 -- The old mill at the foot of Broadway is torn down. It was built in 1865 by a man by the name of Palmer. L. D. Hinckley built the first dam in 1859, along with a crude grist and saw mill. The land was donated by Isaac Alexander.

     The adoption of Nellie E. Lewis, a minor to Otto M. Robert.

     The L. S. Bitler farm on Fox creek is bought by Wm. L. Wood.

     A native of Scotland, Ed Williams dies. He was 70 years old and a veteran.

     John Shipman of Elmdale passed away. Mr. Shipman came to Chase County in 1869. He clerked for John S. Doolittle in the old stone store.

     Ed Ryan who came to this county in 1858 has died at Bazaar.

     Ed Huff and May Handy are married, also Claude Calvert & Manda Banks all of Matfield Green.

     Two more recuits have joined the U. S. Army. They are Ed Murphy and Chas. Tarrant both of Bazaar.

     Julia Breese only daughter of L. B. and Clara Bailey Breese of Elmdale, has died of tuberculosis of the lungs at the young age of 17.

     Mar.3 -- The merchants will start closing at 6:30 PM except on Saturdays.

     Five pounds of navy beans at 25 cents at King's Cash Store in Strong City.

     Almost all the section men on the Santa Fe went out on strike

     Mar. 10 -- Twenty men have joined the Elks Lodge at Emporia from Chase County.

     Miss Nellie Howard is employed as land agent by the Union Pacific railroad.

     A cheese factory will open soon at Matfield Green by A. W. & Mrs Lathen.
