     Mar. 10, 1904 -- Mrs-Chas. Klein of Elmdale has passed away.

     Also, Chas. Edward Hashin dies at the age of 47 at Clements.

     Clarence Everett Yenzer son of Mr. & Mrs Ferdinand Yenzer dies of pneumonia at the age of 14.

     Mar. 17 -- A. B. Emerson who had ran a hotel business in Cedar Point for 20 years has died. He had served as postmaster and held numerous local offices. Mr. Emerson was a veteran of the Civil War.

     Mary F. Groundwater who had had the honor of being elected police judge in the Falls at one time has passed away. She was 62 years old.

     A bank is organized at Saffordville. H. ImMasche, Robert Matti, Ed Altemus, J. H. Makemson, J. A. Lind, J. M. Piper & R. 0. Miner are on the board of directors.

     The contract for the new cistern at the court house was let to John Shofe.

     Flossie Pearl Woodring second daughter of Mr. & Mrs Wm. Woodring lacking four days of being 16 has died.

     Mar. 31 -- August Bahr, who lived on Yeager creek in Bazaar township passed away. He enlisted and served in the Franco Prussian war.

     A telephone line has been put in by Mr. Kellam for H. E. Lantry to Crusher Hill. There are nearly 100 men working on the hill and this will be a great convenience.

     Thurman school taught by C. Ray Patton will close on the 29th.

     Miss Grace Woodring has been hired by the Leader-News and will master the mysteries of the "art preservative".

     April 7, -- Mrs Emma Young born near Elk has died.

     S. W. Beach was awarded the contract for building the Saffordville bank for $750.

     Rose Proeger wins the Leader-News contest and will attend the World's Fair in St. Louis.

     Earl Allen is appointed to Annapolis and Carl Duehn to West Point.

     W. S. Austin has announced that he will be a candidate for Register of Deeds.

     H. C. Snyder who sold his farm at Clement has moved to Strong City and formed a partnership with W. C. Harvey in the real estate & insurance business.

     Apr. 14 -- One of the best known stockman of Chase County has died. John R. Holmes has lived here since 1869. His home was west of Elmdale and he was aged 82. Mr. Holmes was a brother of Edward C. Holmes.

     Frank Johnson received his degree of M. D. from the Kansas City Medical College, one day after he became a papa.

     Barney Lantry dies at his home in Strong City. Mr. Lantry owned & operated one of the largest construction outfits in the world, and the largest ranch in this county.

     Fred McMorris & Nellie McCallum are married at Strong City.

     Malissa Minnick wife of Wm. S. Minnick has died. The family come from Iowas about 1878 and settled in the Toledo township.
