     June 9, 1904 -- Dr. Shelly and wife, Mamie Snyder and Mae Eagen left to attend the St. Louis Fair.

     Trains have not been running up the valley for several days now due to the flood.

     June 16 -- Mr. & Mrs James Barker, better known as Grandpa Barker and Grandma Barker enjoyed the distinction of being married for 65 years. They were married in New York in 1839. They now live with their son- in-law James Austin.

     The good news was heralded on the marriage of P. C. Jeffrey, business man from Elmdale to Mary Lesh of Americus.

     The Saffordville Bank will start on the 1st. of July whether the bank building is finished or not. The building has been delayed due to the flood.

     Miss Pearl Finley of the Falls is one of the leading candidates in the Kansas City World's Fair contest which is now on.

     Pat Maloney who has been section forman in the Santa Fe yards at Strong City for the past generation has resigned that position.

     Mr. & Mrs Theo Fritze of Strong City are the parents of a boy weighing ten pounds.

     The Chase County Telephone Company are just putting out a new directory.

     Paul Phillips, treasurer of the 101 Cattle Co. is here from England.

     Miss Bessie Wood graduated from Kansas University with honors.

     Jay Kuhl graduated from the Kansas University as one from the Pharmacy Department.

     June 23 -- Mr. Irwin Talbert and Mary Boyland of Strong City are wed.

     Mr. Alexander H. Brown died at his home in Cedar Point. He came to Chase County in 1872 and was 73 years old. Mrs T. G. Allen is a daughter.

     Dr. Jacob Hinden of Strong City is running for the office of County Coroner.

     The Presbyterian church has purchased their hymnals. These books will add much to the hour of worship.

     Mary Green will teach the Clements primary and Mary Horner the Silver creek school this winter.

     Mary Maloney only daughter of Mr. & Mrs R. E. Maloney was united in marriage to Harry Chabin of Burlington.

     The 4th of July will be celebrated in Rogler's Grove at Matfield Green.

     Dr. J. C. Bowman of the Falls and Verona Anderson of Council Grove were married.

     Dr. Carnes of Matfield Green who has served a six month sentence in the county jail for maltreating his wife was released from custody.

     Professor B. F. Martin was chosen as leader of the Boy's Band, of Cottonwood Falls.

     The first communion is held at the St. Anthony's church. Twenty-four boys and girls took part.
