     Dec. 1, 1904 -- Ed Fink, son of Mr. & Mrs K. J. Fink of Hymer who was a deputy United States Marshall for the Indian Territory, located in Wetumka, was shot and instatly killed by two Indians.

     Chase Coe who has been connected with Gregory Bros. Clothier, for the past three years has purchased the grocery department of Cowley and McDowell store. He is now installing it as a full fledged grocery store.

     Born to Mr. & Mrs John Dun, a daughter and to Mr. & Mrs James Hewett, a son, all from Clements.

     Little Charlie Wood son of Mr. & Mrs Dave Wood of this city has died of brain fever.

     J. L. Thompson of Wonsevu will pay the highest market price for mules, any size or age.

     Dec. 8 -- Miss Beatrice Hays gave a "Taffy party" for her pupils at the home of Mr. Hensler.

     E. B. Kellam is digging the foundation for a new telephone building on the corner of the telephone exchange.

     Dick Ellis sold his fine driving mare to Al Ryan for $140.

     A baby girl has arrived at the home of Mr. & Mrs Claude Laloge at New Hope.

     Dec. 15 -- Another of Chase County's oldest and most respected citizens has passed away. Henry Collett for more than 40 years has been an active participant in the affairs of Chase County.

     The report comes here from Kansas City that Frank Greer and Kate O'Donnell both of Strong City are married.

     The Cedar Point schools were closed because principal Robert Byrne has been exposed to diptheria, by the four year old daughter of the Chas. Grissom's who Mr. Byrne boards with.

     John Sauble is the Commissioner from Cedar Point.

     Married at Matfield is Robert Hix and Josie Banks. They will set up housekeeping at the Free Methodist parsonage.

     Roy and Dave Wood have opened up a real estate office and will occupy part of the E. A. Kinne building.

     Oranges at 40 cents a peck at Shaw and Harrison's.

     Mr. & Mrs S. E. Bailey of Saffordville have a new baby daughter.

     Dec. 22 -- Guthrie Ranch No. 3 is for rent, 400 acres in cultivation, 30 acres in alfalfa, 2 houses and barns and good water.

     Dora Kelly of Strong City has died and her aged mother is Sarah Kelly of Clements.

     William Stewart of Bazaar suffered a stroke of paralysis and is in serious condition.

     Charles Stephenson of Clements who has been traveling through Alaska for the past few months has arrived home.

     Many friends offered congradulations to Sidney P. Creel & Effie Osman on their marriage..

     Dec. 22, 1904 -- Con Harvey is having his house raised.

     Bessie Allen of this city and Harry Pyle are wed. The couple will live at Coldwater, Ks.

     Dec. 29, 1904 -- David Messer of Clements & Kittie Ewing of Strong City are married by Judge Matt McDonald.

     John P. Hullet & Alice E. Archer both of The Falls are also wed.

     On Christmas day at the home of the bride's parents Bertha Wilhite was united in marriage to Frank Evans, oldest son of Commissioner W. P. Evans.

     Two chicken houses for sale at West's, $8 and $10 each.

     John Gibb of Hymer, went to Emporia to be initiated into the mysteries of the Elk Lodge.

     Jan. 5, 1905 -- Mrs Mary Malinda Howard, born in Va, died at the home of of her daughter Mrs Arthur Lewis of the Falls.

     The first couple appearing Saturday at the Probate Judge's office will get their marriage license free.

     News depot or not? Superindendent J. E. Hurley was at Strong City & gave orders for the re-construction of the east end of the depot. These changes mean that the old depot will be in service until it rots or burns down.

     A. B. Howard of the Falls and Mattie Maule of Strong City are wed.

     Miss Beatrice Hays is the new teacher in the city schools. She has been teaching the Schwilling school. Miss Rose Proeger takes her place.

     The Strong City Bank elected Geo. Hughes, Pres. H. Wiebrecht, Sec. & J. H. Doolittle, Cashier.

     Jan. 12, 1905 -- Resignation of Leonard Wagoner, Constable of Matfield Township, accepted and A. I. Nichol appointed to fill the vacancy.

     Judge Dennis Madden & Dudley Doolittle have formed a partenership and their office will be in Cottonwood Falls.

     Due to Mr. S. E. Whitney the President & General Manager of the 101 Cattle Co. has been ordered by his doctors to give up all business for the time being. It has been resolved to close the operation of the Company.

     Dr. Hamme has been taking treatments in Kansas City for Bright's disease and is entirely recovered.

     Avery Bates is serving as apprentice on the first class battleship, Ohio, one of the best battleships in the U. S. Navy. Avery is the son of Mr. and Mrs J. M. Bates of the Falls.

     Ben Zickerfoose is going into the chicken business. He is building a poultry house.

     At a meeting of the subscribers for a bonus for the building of a flouring mill at the Falls, the contract agreement was annuled & the bonus was can- celled.

     Jan. 19, 1905 -- Born to Mr. & Mrs Tom McCabe a girl and to Mr. & Mrs Fred Coe a boy.
