     Jan. 19, 1905 -- During last week the thermometers about town registered from 13 to 18 degrees below zero.


     Winnifred Kerwin & Joseph Sherffius are married by Rev. Father Doyle.


     Jan. 26 -- Edwin Breese father of L. B. Breese of Elmdale dies in California. Edwin lived in this county at one time.


     A home wedding occured at Clemens home at Elmdale of Lena Clemens and Peter R. Lynch of Emporia.


     Mr. & Mrs Thayer have a baby girl and also Mr. & Mrs Vincel Bullard a girl.


     H. C. Snyder is putting in a hot water heating plant in his new home.


     The four month old boy of Mr. & Mrs L. G. Shaw of Strong City has died.


     A movement for good roads was started in this county at a meeting held in the courtroom.


     Feb. 2, 1905 -- The infant daughter of Mr. M. B. Weichold has died & was buried at Elk.


     Mr. Joseph Waidley, aged 45, died, leaving a wife and 3 children.


     Born to Mr. & Mrs James Ryan of Strong City, a girl, Mr. & Mrs Ed Daubs, a girl, Mr. & Mrs Alexandar a boy and Mr. & Mrs Floyd McMorris, a boy.


     Dr. & Mrs Rich celebrate their 50th. wedding anniversary at Clements. Dr. Rich has served the people of this county for nearly 20 years.


     H. S. F. Jones, who used to own the Davis Ranch now the Altemus Ranch, on Payton creek died at his home in New York.


     Feb. 9 -- John O'Rourke, who was the only tinner at Strong City for years died at Sedalia, Mo.


     The Strong City Derrick has changed both in form and name. It is now the Strong City Herald.


     Deaths - Joseph Waidley, B. W. Spencer, Mrs John H. Swank, Mrs Marie Jane (Ross) Byram, Charles Jasper and Grandma Fritze.


     The L. W. Byram's have a new girl, and a boy to Mr. & Mrs Pierce at Clements.


     An early resident of Chase County Mrs America Burch, mother of Cabe Burch of Elmdale and sister of Wm. Harris of the Falls has passed away.


     Feb. 16 -- Clay Shaft has gone into the loan and insurance business.


     Mrs Ann Johnson, widow of the late Crate Johnson, died north of Elmdale.


     Charles Goodels' family has been quarantined for smallpox.


     The Toledo school has been closed and several of the childred are being vacccinated.


     Margaret Wilson of Toledo and Steward Yenzer are wed.


     Mrs Delilah Stout an old Chase Co. settler who lived near Praire Hill several years ago died.


     Sadie Bottiger ,19 year old daughter of Mr. & Mrs W. P. Bottiger died at the home of her sister Mr. R. L. Sewart of the Falls. She was a teacher at the High Prairie school, when typhoid fever struck her down.
