     June 6 -- Mr. & Mrs J. S. H. Barker who came to Chase County in 1870 have been married sixty-six years.

     Mr. J. J. Wells, father of Tom Wells and Mrs. G G. Way of Middle creek have died.

     June 9 -- Wm. Schrumpf will quit the street car and go to work for the Smith Brothers.

     June 13 -- Council proceedings, a motion was carried to issue bonds to the amount of $3,000 to purchase a site for a city building as prayed for.

     June 13 -- Maude Rogler has a large music class at Homestead and adjacent neighborhoods.

     June 16 -- E. A. Kinne, City Clerk will be in City Hall for the purpose of collecting dog taxes.

     The people of Toledo township will celebrate the glorious 4th. at Coman's Grove one-half mile north of Saffordville.

     Dedication of the new Elk church will be held on the 18th.

     June 20 -- Postmaster J. C. Petty received notice that the Strong City postoffice is now advanced from a fourth class to a third class postoffice.

     The Commercial Hotel is fitted up a modern bathroom, and are prepared to furnish both hot and cold baths.

     June 23 - Clyd Wilson & Sate Swinson are married.

     Gregory Brothers are robbed. About $300 taken and Will Gregory's mandolin.

     The Silver Moon restaurant has moved into the south room of the Central Hotel. Messrs. Blurton and Chase can now serve the public better than before.

     June 27 -- Mamie Biggam Copeland has died of consumption at Strong City.

     Ten pounds home made lard for $1.00 at Yeager's market.

     Chas. Gregory is having plans drawn for a new residence which he expects to build this summer.

     S. R. Mead has opened an ice cream parlor and short order house in the Brandley building at Matfield.

     June 30 -- At the annual school meeting at Strong City, Mr. Empie voted a levy of 5 mills to build an addition to the school building south of the railroad. This addition is to be of stone.
