     June 30, 1905 -- The people of Cottonwood Falls will have an opportunity to decide whether or not they want a city park. An election will be held on July 10th. The judges for the election are: J. C. Dwelle, C. B. Hager, C. A. Coe, the Clerks are: Mrs Hattie C. Smith, Mrs L. D.McWilliams.

     July 4 -- Forty applicants took the teachers examination at the county high school. Out of this number only five were young men.

     July 7- - Marriages of: Lula Selves & S. S. Morris of the Falls and Roy Bailey and Harriet Madden.

     The frame work for the Electric Light Plant is up and the building will be completed shortly.

     Dr. A. M. Conway died at Saffordville. Dr Conway was one of the best known men in Chase County. He was 76 years of age.

     By an overwhelming vote of 218 to 79 the proposition to buy the half block west of the court house for a city park, was defeated.

     July 11 -- Wanted - Sealed bids for the erection of a two room frame school building at Hymer.

     Anice Harris has been elected the teacher at the Hymer school.

     Mrs S. G. Nichols of Matfield has died. She was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs Wm. Cox.

     July 14 -- The stone work was let out to John Shofe for the new two room addition to the south side of the Strong City school house.

     July 18 -- Probate Judge Houghton appointed Capt. B. H. Chadwick as probation officer for the Cottonwood Falls and Cedar townships and 0. H. Lewis for Matfield and Bazaar townships.

     Rose Proeger and Alonzo Dove and Marshall H. Lawrence and Sarah Watchous are married.

     Theodore Fritze was awarded the contract for the carpenter work on the Strong City school house addition. The price being $1285.75.

     Joseph Woodring one of the pioneers of Strong City has died of cancer and blood poisoning. Mr. Woodring was a shoemaker.

     July 21 -- The Cottonwood Falls mill is running night and day and is over a thousand barrel behind its orders.

     July 25 -- Sophie Bichet was born in France, and the mother of Mr. A. Bichet of the Falls has passed away.

     July 28 -- Henry Mau the 16 year old son of Mr. & Mrs John Mau of Middle creek was struck by lighting and he and his team were instantly killed.

     Aug. 1 -- Few people are aware that all the cattle in the state of Kansas are under quarantine for scabies and that it is not lawful to ship any cattle without first being inspected by the Government Inspector.

     Newton E. Odle and Maude Blurton are married at the Central Hotel, home of the bride's residence.

     Aug. 4 -- Houghton and Austin have finished the carpenter work on J. A. Lind's new house at Saffordville.
