     Sept. 5 - 1905 -- Several of the farmers are puzzeled what to do for water in their pastures if it doesn't rain soon.

     Sept. 8 -- Eliza Lyles of Saffordville and Hugh Whipkey of Clements are married also Wm. F. Gardner of Cedar Point and Anna Schmidle of Elmdale.

     A. G. Maule has sold out. The Maule's have been in business in Strong City since the town was founded.

     Chas. Woolwine's have a new baby daughter, at Saffordville.

     Sept. 12 - Miss Grace Richards has been employed as the Musical Director of the CCH school. She will receive $25 a month. The board instructed Prof. Martin to buy or rent a good piano.

     Ella Hinote and Albert McKinsey of Emporia are wed. Miss Hinote is well known in Chase County as a successful school teacher and active member of the Methodist church.

     Sept. 15 -- James B. McCabe a farmer 23 years old of Bazaar and Verne M. Heathman 15 years old of Cottonwood Falls are married in Kansas City, Ks. Verne's mother Mrs Maggie Bieler accompanied the young couple to acquire the license.

     The city school board is having fire escapes built on the west side of of the new school building.

     Marriage of Wm. M. Crouch and Emma H. Mercer, both of Matfield Green.

     The Strong City Cemetery has been beautified by a fine new iron picket fence put up by Judd Williams.

     Thomas Mercer is building a large house. Wm. Newlee of Clements is doing the carpenter work.

     Sept. 19 -- Chase County losses Matfield bridge and some crops due to the flooding.

     Two popular young people of Strong City are married, Garrett Prendeville and Mary G. Ryan.

     Hugh Finley of the Falls has returned from St. Paul, Minn., where he has been studying watchmaking and engraving.

     Sept. 26 -- Eighty hunters licenses have been issued since the new law went into effect.

     Mr. & Mrs Geo. Miller, east of town have a new daughter.

     Sept. 29 -- Mrs Geo. Lawrence died at her home on Rock creek.

     Oct. 3 -- Hottest September since 1898.

     Geo. Starkey almost killed going down Osage hill taking a threshing machine down the hill.

     Mr. Kellam and a force of men have been at work for several days moving the Central office into the fine new stone building, built by Mr. Kellam at the corner of Broadway and Main streets.

     Peter Lind has resigned as Justice of the Peace in Toledo township.

     Oct. 6 -- The contract for painting the court house roof and all outside woodwork was awarded to Frank McDaniels for $355.21. McDaniels will furnish the paint and cover it with two coats.

     Jimmie Mitchell, better known as "Uncle Jimmie Mitchell" who has lived in Chase County since the times before the war, died at Matfield Green.
