     Dec. 29, 1905 -- The eldest daughter of Mr. & Mrs C. Crouch of Saffordville, Hester was married to 0. V. Slater a respected business man of Saffordville.


     Also Charles F. Gurney & Effie E. Bradley, both of Homestead are married.


     1906


     Jan. 2, 1906 -- On Christmas Eve, Sarah Edna Holcombe & Geo. D. Campbell are married beneath a beautiful arch in the bay window of the bride's parents, Mr. & Mrs F. B. Holcombe.


     Eleazer Martin who came to Chase County in 1876 has died at South Fork.


     Iva E. Fuller east of Verdon became the bride of Edwin Ewing of Wonsevu.


     Arrangements have been made and lines formed for a wolf hunt near Jacobs Mound.


     Miss Ada Gustin of Clements district No. 38 is teaching this term.


     The County Commissioners and the City Council of Cottonwood Falls have each been asked for the privilege of using the streets and roads for the purpose of building an electric street car line between Cottonwood Falls & Strong City. A similar request will be made of the Strong City Council.


     Bounty at the rate of 3 cents per ordered on crows for three months at the commissioners proceedings.


     Jan. 9 -- Louis Duehn resigned his position as county commissioner, after being on the board one year.


     The Consolidated Street Railway was granted a franchise by the County Commissioners to operate either electric or gasoline street cars.


     Henry Hugh Clements is retiring from blacksmithing and is going to Dodge City.


     The Elmdale Roller Mill owned by Mr. Roberts was totally destroyed by by fire.


     Prof. Elwood Humes of the County High School has passed away.


     J. C. Long died at his home south of the Falls of pneumonia.


     The people of Clements are well pleased with the location of the depot and other small improvements.


     Jan. 19 - The Gamer & Breese gas well at Elmdale was brought in and is at least one-third stronger than the Wood well which was struck last week.


     The little eight year old daughter, Duche, of Mr. & Mrs Nate Russell has died at Bazaar of typhoid fever.


     Born to Mr. & Mrs Lem Philipps of Elk a boy.


     Jan. 23 -- Mr. J. D. Beals has passed away in Safford, Ks. Mr. Beals was a photographer in the Falls at one time.


     Wm. Stone, who has been connected with the Saffordville hardware has discontinued and will farm his father's place near Toledo.


     Mr. & Mrs Tho. Guthrie of near Saffordville are the parents of a fine big boy.


     The Strong City council passed and ordinance prohibiting the sale of intoxicating liquors.


     Mrs Mary G. Parsons died at the home of her son L. C. Parson, in Cedar Township, aged 84 years.
