     Jan. 26 -- The electric light plant has just begun operating entirely by water power. There are now about 1,000 lights installed in the two towns of Strong City and Cottonwood Falls.

     Since the publishing of the Strong City prohibition ordinance last week, two fine of $100 each has been imposed.

     S. & J. Glanville topped the Kansas City market at $5.90 with a prime load of fat steers.

     Tom Albin moved from the Stahl farm at Fruitland to his father's farm in East Buckeye.

     Jan. 30 -- Prof. Jent began work in the Chase County High School.

     Dave Mercer is hauling lumber from here for a new house on his farm near Homestead.

     May Rau a member of the Strong City High School has died. Henry Johnson who moved to Emporia about two years ago has died. John McCabe dropped dead in Americus. He lived most of his life in Bazaar. He is the brother of James and Andrew of Strong City and Matt of Montana.

     Jan. 30 -- The Houston Shade Holder Co. of the Falls have about 15,000 shade holders manufactured and ready for shipment.

     The vibrator at Dr. F. H. Byrant's is one of the latest inventions for the treatment of every curable and many so called incurable diseases.

     Miss Ida Schmpff teaches at the Elk school and Queene Campbell at Stribby.

     The A. M. Conaway farm of 160 acres four mile north of Saffordville is for sale.

     A pair of twin boys arrived at the home of Mr. & Mrs Ed Nichols near Gladstone.

     Wm. Newley is making plans to build a 30x36, new two story house for Oscar Duehn. It will have a porch on the east and south sides, and will have all modern conveniences including steam heat or natural gas.

     A bay window at the depot at Cedar Point is completed also a new well.

     Feb. 6 -- The Elk Creamery Co. held a meeting and decided to sell the skimming station, fixtures and building.

     A new electric light sign has been erected over the Bank Hotel.

     Fred Riley and Edward Johnston were delegates from the Chase County High School Y. M. C. A. to the State Convention at Chanute.

     Mr. & Mrs A. J. Houghton celebrated their 25th. wedding anniversery.

     Feb. 13 -- Flora Ann Bishop died at Elmdale. She moved to Elmdale with her parents in 1888, and taught four years in the public schools.

     Born to Mr. & Mrs Will McNee of the Falls a girl, Ben Zickefoose and wife near Clements a fine boy.

     Feb. 16 -- E. A. Kinne is in charge of the Houston Shade Holder Factory.
