     July 3 -- There will be a platform dance six miles southwest of Cottonwood, know as the Siler farm on the 4th of July given by R. E. Covalt.

     Mrs F. E. Grimwood & Miss Clara Norris have moved their millinery store to make room for the new bank building which has been started. Wm. Beach is doing the work.

     Ed B. Kellam is the manager of the Chase County Telephone System.

     July 6 -- A petition was presented at the Commissioners proceedings by the residents and taxpayers of Matfield Green for the incorporation of that town as a city of the third class.

     Born to Mr. & Mrs Wm. Watchous of Bazaar, a son.

     Susanna Kingsinger who was married to James L. Thompson in 1866 has died. She leaves four sons and two daughters.

     July 10 -- Jas. 0. Wilson & Bessie Petford are hired by the Strong City school Board.

     Marriage of Mae Maloney & Ed Kraft, a plain case of elopement though both parties are over age.

     Bertha Schneider will graduate from the Axtell Hospital Training School in Newton on July 15th.

     July 13 -- Cottonwood is taking another long stride forward in the matter of good sidewalks. All the contracts call for a price of 142 cents per square feet.

     Out of sixty four who took the examination for teacher's certificates, fifty two were successfull. Grace Campbell received a professionsl certificate.

     July 17 -- W. J. McNee died suddenly at his home of heart failure. Only about two months ago he, and his brother George & Chas.Gregory bought the Cottonwood Falls Mill.

     Mrs John B. Shipman formerly of the Falls has died.

     The Elmdale Epworth League will give a "Ochard Social" at the home of H. M. Giger.

     July 20 -- The bonds voted by Strong City for the purchase of the auditorium has been sold through Madden & Doolittle to a Kansas City firm.

     The Ladies Aid Society will give an ice cream social at Cress Hall at Clements.

     J. J. Jones is the forman for Rettiger & Norton.

     July 24 -- Miner's Band will give a free open concert on the band stand.
