     July 24, 1906 -- Mrs A. R. Palmer died at Pasedena, Ca. She and her husband lived many years near Bazaar on the Palmer Ranch, now the Green Ranch.

     July 27 -- C. D. Yeager was elected director and P. C. Schimpff clerk at the school meeting at Rock Creek.

     We understand that Guy Gardner is the champion Broncho Buster of Middle Creek.

     July 31 -- Edna McKee and H. Carpenter are married. They will reside in Matfield.

     The State Board of Equalization left the valuation of Chase County property the same fixed by the county commissioners. The state levy mill this year is 4.7 mills, which is one mill less than last year.

     Aug. 3 -- The death of Dr. G. W. Williams a veteran of the Civil War in which he was wounded occured at Lovelock, Nev. Dr. Williams was a physician in Cottonwood Falls early on.

     Mr. Smith of Elmdale has sold his lumber yard to John Gamer.

     Aug. 7 -- The Gas Magnates at Elmdale are piping their houses for gas while the outsiders sit on the fence and try to make themselves believe they don't want any.

     J. M. Warren presented his resignation as marshall at the county meeting.

     Frank Mailen of Strong City and Ed Richards of Cottonwood Falls have bought the Henderson barber shop, formerly Doering & LaCoss barber shop in the Falls.

     Road petition for H. B. Osborne, rejected by commissioners as the petition did not contain the names of 12 householders in the vacinity of the road.

     W. W. Austin, principal of the Cottonwood Falls schools has bought Johnston Bros. interest in the W. G. Smith Light & Power Co.

     A son is born to Mr. & Mrs Mike Nash of Strong City.

     Aug. 10 -- Mr. & Mrs Ed Patton of Clements have a new baby boy.

     Aug. 14 -- The Chase Co. Telephone System, of which E. B. Kellam is manager, has been sold. The purchasers are the Missouri & Kansas Telephone Co., better know as the Bell Telephone Co.

     J. W. Cope is a candidate for nomination for County Treasurer to fill the vacancy on the Republican ticket caused by the death of W. J. McNee.

     Sidney Wood passed away at Elmdale. Sidney was 35 years old. He had been in the practice of law before his illness.

     Aug. 28 -- W. W. Austin has resigned his position as principal of the city schools.

     Little Robert Ludwig has died.
